20 Weird Things You Do When You Have A Crush

Hey you. Yes you. I know what you're thinking. I know you are thinking of him/her right now. And now you just put a name to the face that I just mentioned. Now you are making a stupid smile at your screen pretending to not connect that one person's name with the word "crush," but guess what? I'm also stupidly smiling at my screen too. And so is everyone else so don't feel stupid, it's okay that there are butterflies literally trying to escape your stomach right now. Here are 20 weird things you do when you have a crush. Don't deny it.

1. Giving your friends that look when you spot them from 30 yards away because that hair and that walk are unmistakable.

2. Wearing something relating to their favorite movie or sports team in hopes they'll see it and think you're soul mates.

3. Poking them on Facebook (but poking other friends too so it's not as obvious).

4. Liking their Instagram pictures either 43 seconds or 23 hours later so they see you liked it.

5. Screenshotting text messages and sending them to your friends because you don't know how to reply in a cool way, even if your crush only said "what is the homework for tonight?"

6. Having unrealistic expectations for doing homework together like cute flirtatious laughter, you knowing all of the answers to the homework forcing them to be woo'ed by your intelligence, or perhaps their hand in marriage.

7. Hanging out on Coug walk for way too long because you hope they'll show up and you'll get to see them for approximately 4.8 seconds.

8. Asking all your friends a million times if your crush saw their story because you're in it or strategically taking a picture of your location to put on your snapstory so they know where you're at.

9. Dressing in your best outfit on a certain day because you know that every MWF they are on West at the same time and they might accidentally see you in passing and fall in love with your sweater-skinny jeans-booties combo.

10. When you say you love something out of impulse because they know they love it.

11. Listening to that one any song and thinking "OMG that is so them."

12. Responding (usually a little too loudly) "Good!" when they say "hi."

13. Either saying nothing at all because you can't tell if it's an articulate thought or if it's vomit, or going on for at least 6 minutes about your cousin's friend's dog that you saw a picture of on Facebook yesterday.

14. Planning out a conversation that you're going to have with them ahead of time (and then getting flustered when they don't follow the script).

15. Going places that you know for an absolute fact they go to a lot and then saying "oh my gosh, do you like *insert church/coffeehouse/bookstore/gym here* too?"

16. Overthinking literally everything. Why they favorited your tweet, the way they looked at you in class, the tone of voice they use when saying hi, etc.

17. You and your friends sneak pics of each others crushes.

18. You go through their likes on Twitter and relate all crush tweets to you.

19. Retaking over 30 snapchat pictures to get that 10/10 selfie to send to them.

20. Saying a prayer for them at the end of the day because even though they may not like you, you still only want good things for them.

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

Take the time to thank that one friend in your life you will never let go of.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
