20 Things To Do This Fall
North Bridge Times

Queue the pumpkin spice lattes and Instagram posts. The leaves are falling, and the air is crisp with the changing of the season. Break out your flannels, (and sweaters, and boots and scarves) So embrace the Fall season and grab some friends for some fun!

1. Go pumpkin picking at a pumpkin patch

How can you get any more Fall-y than this? Pick up some cute baby ones to decorate your dorm or home! There's something special about going to pumpkin patches, and this is the time to go!

2. Hayrides and haunted attractions

Along with pumpkin patches, take a ride on a hayride! Sure the straw sticks to you like glue, but is it really fall if you haven't been on a one before! Haunted houses are also popular, but it's more fun to go with a group of people. Sometimes Haunted attractions are a little corny (haha see what I did there) but with great friends it's always fun.

3. Go apple picking at orchard near you

Apple picking is one of those activities that is so underrated! Pick your own apples for your pies, wander around the orchard and embrace it! Plus, it can make a great date idea!

4. Take a hike or walk (fresh air is good for the soul!)

The air is crisp, it's time to finally take a hike without getting way too hot! Walk through your local trails or research some hiking paths near your area.

5. Paint/carve pumpkins

Since the pumpkin patch, you have a bunch of pumpkins just sitting around waiting to be decorated. Funny, or scary, or poorly carved, it doesn't matter! Make it a whole event by printing out templates for you and your friends!

6. Go bobbing for apples

Alright so this might sound a little childish, but hey it can be hilarious to watch your friends struggle to get that one apple they've been after, and recording it can be even better.

7. Make fall themed food

i.e. pumpkin flavored everything

8. Watch a game of football or get some friends to join you to play

Football seems to be a popular sport to watch during the fall and if you're not much of a football fan, make your own rules and get outside to play!

9. Collect leaves-- and then jump in them!

A favorite Fall activity and wallet friendly too! Raking up leaves from your yard can be tiresome, so before you bag them up, be a kid and jump in them once-- or five times. But who's counting, right?

10. Break out the candles

Nothing beats coming home to the scents of Fall! Pumpkin and warm spices are guaranteed to get you in that Fall mood!

11. The season for Chili and soups have arrived

Relax on a day off with some homemade chili or soup. You can pack some up and take to friends too!

12. Scary movies

Yep, scary movies are a must for Fall. Challenge yourself to watch a different movie each night! Make some bets with friends about what's going to happen, or sit with a pillow in front of your face like I do.

13. Open the windows

Let the colder air in, its good for the soul.

14. Cozy up with a big blanket and read a new book

Can you say lazy day? Because these are the best, especially when you have a hectic schedule it can be hard to find time to relax. Spend some time cuddled up in a big blanket with a new book. What's better than that?

15. Fall cleaning

Change of the season means changing your wardrobe. Instead of putting your summer clothes away, go through them and get rid of the ones that you won’t wear again, are too small, or you think is plain ugly now.

16. Fall decorating

Pretty self explanatory but to make it even more fun, make it a friendly competition to see who can decorate the best.

17. Picnics

Pack up a blanket and go have a picnic. Even if it's right outside and on your lawn, it's in the spirit of Fall!

18. Bonfires

Can you smell the s’mores? Because I can, and can’t wait for the first bonfire of the season!

19. Goosebumps marathons

Put on some good old freaky shows, maybe while you're waiting for your apple pie to bake, and enjoy the nostalgic feeling.

20. Friendsgiving

Take a day to get the gang together to celebrate your friendship!

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
