20 Times Disney Movies Dropped Wisdom
Raphael Zanardo

If you know me, you know that I love Disney movies. Disney is known for its princesses, catchy songs and happily ever afters. As a self-proclaimed Disney aficionado, I would like to argue that Disney movies are more than just entertainment. I grew up watching Disney movies and still enjoy them to this day. They are filled to the brim with life advice, but at the same time, keep viewers interested by adding humor and catchy songs. I mean, is there really a better combination? I've never understood why my youngest sister has never really been into Disney movies, because my other sister and I adore them. Maybe it is because she wants to grow up so badly, and we just wish we were kids again ... Hey, we can dream! Regardless, I have decided to compile a list of 20 nuggets of wisdom that Disney characters have dropped over the years. Enjoy!

1. Your identity is your most valuable possession. Protect it.

2. You give up a few things, chasing a dream.

3. The past can hurt ... but you can either run from it or learn from it.

4. Ladies don't start fights, but they can finish them. [touché]

5. Look for the bare necessities ... forget about your worries and your strife.

6. We can't change who we are; and the sooner you accept that, the better off your life will be.

7. All people matter.

8. If watching is all you're gonna do, then you're gonna watch your life go by without you.

9. The human world is a mess.

10. You must not let anyone define your limits because of where you come from.

11. The seaweed is always greener in somebody else's lake...

12. Sometimes the wrong things may be right and the right things may be wrong.

13. Just because you can't understand something doesn't mean it's wrong.

14. It'll turn out alright in the end. You'll see.

15. You've gotta put your past behind you.

16. The flower that blooms in adversity is the most rare and beautiful of all.

17. When a woman says later, she really means never.

18. You just focused on the bad stuff when all you had to do was let go of the past and keep moving forward...

19. The dream that you wish will come true.

20. If you don't think, you shouldn't talk.

In case you're unaware, "resting bitch face" is the term used to describe when a person's natural, expressionless face makes it look like they are mad at the world. Whether they are walking down the street or simply spacing out thinking about what to eat for dinner, it's very easy for others to assume that this person is either upset or mad at them. Because of this, those of us with Resting Bitch Face (RBF), and especially us women, have all experienced many of the same situations and conversations, including:

We've all had a crush before. Whether it leads to something or nothing, the process has all been the same. The awkward feelings, the stalking, and the stress of trying to keep this huge secret. The feeling of becoming a total spazz is something that cannot be avoided, and the most spazzy family that can relate to this feeling is the Belcher's.

At the tender age of 18, we are bestowed with the title of “adult.” For 17 years, we live under the rules and guidelines of our parents, school, and government, and to stray from any of those rules or guidelines marks us as a rebel. At 18, though, we must choose which college we want to go to or what career we want. We are allowed and encouraged to vote. We can buy lottery tickets and cigarettes. We can drop out of school, leave our household, and do other "adult" things. At 18, we start down a path of thinking for ourselves, when for the entirety of our lives other institutions have been mandated to think and do for us.

What about those of us who don't do it all in four years?

"College will be the best four years of your life" is a phrase that we have all heard growing up. College is painted as a magical place to us while we are in high school. A place you go to learn, meet your best friends and probably have the time of your life while all of this is going down. Four whirlwind years, where everything that you've known changes and you start to learn what it means to live on your own, have a job, etc. But what about those of us who don't do this all in four years? Major changes, hard courses, switching schools, career paths changing, these are just a handful of factors that could extend your four years to five, six or seven. There is nothing wrong with taking extra time to graduate, but returning as a fifth-year is a little different. Most of your best friends have most likely graduated and moved and while you may be one of the oldest undergraduates on campus, you might feel as awkward as a freshmen. A world that became home and comfortable to you is still there but it's slightly different than you've known it to be and you have to find a groove to fall into. These are thoughts you'll have as you look ahead to returning to your college campus, with a victory lap planned.
