20 Of My All-Time Favorite Books That 2000s Teens Have Read In Their Childhood

Whether at home, school, the library or a friend's house these were some of the best reads I encountered during my childhood and most 2000's kids will tell you the same.

While combing through my bookshelf last week, I was hit with a wave of nostalgia when I saw all of my favorite childhood books hidden underneath piles of school assigned reading. Some of which I dreaded, and some of which I actually liked. I thought about how much I loved to read as a kid, even to the point where sometimes I had books taken away from me by my teachers at school and my parents at home because I could never put down a good book.

I've decided that I'm going to get back into the groove of reading and rekindle my love for the amazing escape from reality that books provide. Here are some of the books that sparked my love for reading as a kid and which I think that all 2000s kids have seen at some point in their childhoods, and even if you aren't a kid these are some of the best reads in my opinion.


1. The Magic Tree House Series

The classic tales of Jack and Annie's adventures as they venture into another world through their magic tree house.

2. Diary of a Wimpy Kid Series

3. The Percy Jackson Series

4. The Warriors Series

The lives of cats are so much more interesting than anyone would have thought.

5. The Hunger Games Series

Team Peeta or Team Gale?

6. Junie B. Jones Series

This mischievous little girl always gets into the funniest situations and makes reading them so much fun.

7. Chicka Chicka Boom Boom

Who knew learning alphabets could be so fun?

8. Goosebumps series

9. The American Girl Doll books

Tales about girls who come from various backgrounds, ethnicities, time periods and families. They all share certain characteristics however such as courage, bravery and a caring heart.

10. The Magic School Bus Books

11. Shel Silverstein's Poem Books

His poems and stories are all so beautiful and rich with meaning, and we can't forget about his giant self-portraits on the back of his books.

12. A Bad Case of Stripes

Friendship is defined by people who love you for who you are, not how you look.

13. Amelia Bedelia Books

The hilarious adventures of Amelia, a housemaid who always gets into trouble.

14. The Wishbone Series

Everyone's favorite detective doggo.

15. The Rainbow Magic Fairies Series

There is a type of fairy for literally anything that can be categorized; you name it.

16. Goodnight Moon

The perfect bedtime story for any sensitive child.

17. The Spiderwick Chronicles

An eerie tale packed with adventure about a boy who is able to see supernatural creatures after his family moves to the spider wick home.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.
