"Why do we have wisdom teeth anyway?"

20 Thoughts You Have Before Getting Your Wisdom Teeth Out
Blogspot

I am currently sitting in my bed waiting to leave so I can get 2 or 4 of my wisdom teeth out. I have friends and family who have gotten theirs out and so I've heard plenty of horror stories (okay not so bad stories). I was looking forward to today for a while because I've been waiting for two years to get them taken out but today I woke up feeling a little scared. I know that it will be over before I know it and there really is nothing to worry about once I get them out. Recovery time is going to be very hard on me I'm sure but it'll be worth it once I don't have any more wisdom tooth pain. So here are 20 thoughts I've had over the course of waiting to get them removed.

1. Why do we have wisdom teeth anyways?

2. How have my teeth not moved at all from two years ago?

3. Wait, this means I'm going to look like a chipmunk for the next 5 days.

4. Chipmunks are cute, right?

5. I'm going to be doped up on drugs for this procedure.

6. I wonder if I'll cry or laugh hysterically after surgery. Probably both.

7. I just got home and now I can't even eat the good food I came back for. I can only have ice cream and applesauce and other really soft foods.

8. Wait, I can have all the ice cream I want for the next few days.

9. Today is finally going to be the day where I sleep to my heart's content.

10. Remember when the dentists told me I had no wisdom teeth? Well, I definitely do now.

11. Okay take these out now they're starting to hurt.

12. I haven't had surgery like this since I was a baby. I hope I don't throw up because of the anesthesia.

13. Maybe I'll get a nice get well soon card and presents from my friends and/or family.

14. My mouth is going to be really sore and I'm going to complain a lot.

15. I won't be able to talk.

16. Wait your face might thin out after surgery?

17. Goodbye, round cheeks!

18. I hope I can get them all out in one shot so I don't have to go back and go through this process all over again.

19. Wait I don't have time for this. It's spring break, and I have all this homework to do. I have 2 papers, a book, and another huge written assignment and no time and there's so much stress and...

20. Oh well, can't do it today. Sleep is calling my name. I'm coming for you!

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
