This fall I, like many of my teammates, will start my collegiate swimming career. While I am not one that particularly enjoys exercising in my free time after practice, I was shocked to receive my summer training for the upcoming season. Being given a workout that consists of running three miles, five times a week is NOT something we are used to. If this doesn’t scream fish out of water, then nothing will. So, as I attempt to stick to this running regimen, here are twenty-one thoughts I am sure all competitive swimmers have while running
1. Wow, we are starting off nice here I think I could do this for days.
2. I could totally outrun an exploding building - I'm on fire right now.
3. This isn't too bad.
4. Oh wait, I just twisted my ankle. Don’t worry though, you can recover from that trip you only have 2.25 miles to go.
5. People do this for fun? They must be mental.
6. I should put a pic in my snapchat story so everyone knows I'm fit because we all know this won't happen again.
7. Why did I think this was gonna be a good idea? Why on earth do I want to get myself into this for the next four years?
8. We swim, we do not run.
9. Water>>>land
10. I'm sure walking is just as much cardio.
11. 0.3 miles, okay time for a break.
12. Ow my lungs, it feels like I just sprinted the 1650.
13. I hope I pass out, then it will be over.
14. Why do my legs hurt this bad?
15. Is this what a heart attack feels like because if so I never want to have one.
16. What am I gonna eat when I'm done?
17. Why coach are you doing this to me?
18. Okay, almost there now pick up the pace.
19. I would much rather repeat 500s than this, and THAT is saying a lot.
20. Sprint to the three miles go, go, go.
21. I don't think doing this five times a week is going to be a thing. Oh well.
