At last you finally get to move into your first apartment. You have been looking forward to this day for weeks and you can’t wait to take on this new adventure. Little did you know, move-in day is going to be a lot more stressful than you planned. Sure, you’ve moved into dorm rooms before and it wasn’t that bad. But if your move-in day on campus was anything like mine, a bunch of juniors and seniors help you lug your stuff up to your room and your parents remind you to sign in and pick up your keys. Out in the real adult world, it’s only you and your friend from home, who you forced into coming, getting lost trying to find the apartment and no idea how to unlock the door. Here are the thoughts most people have on their first move-in day into an apartment.
1. Look at our new, beautiful apartment!
2. I can’t wait to fill these empty rooms and decorate everywhere.
3. These boxes are so heavy.
4. Why did I pack so much?
5. I didn’t realize how hot it was today until I started lifting heavy things.
6. My car is blocking five others cars.
7. There are people everywhere. Where am I supposed to park?
8. I finally found a spot, but it’s five streets from my apartment.
9. Looks like I won’t be driving anywhere for the rest of the day.
10. I can’t get this outlet to work.
11. How do I open the windows?
12. Did someone buy toilet paper?
13. What day will they pick up trash and recycling?
14. How do I pay bills?
15. I was so unprepared for this move.
16. I should have just lived with my parents to save money and stress.
17. After unpacking everything, my room is starting to come together.
18. This looks a lot more like home now.
19. I’m a real adult with this new apartment.
20. I could get used to this.
Moving into a new apartment is a great adventure. All the stress and sweat on the first day will be worth it when you spend the year growing and bonding with your roommates.
