20 Thoughts I Had While Shopping For A Bridesmaid's Dress

So many dresses, so little time.

One of my best friends is getting married, which means bridesmaid dress shopping was a must. She decided that as long as the dresses were the same length and color, each bridesmaid could choose whatever style we wanted to wear. This is great because everyone gets to wear what they feel most comfortable in. But it also means we had to go shopping and actually find a dress...which was definitely an adventure.

1. LOOK AT ALL THESE DRESSES. How do I pick one??

2. Why do designers always have fancy names for colors? Our dresses are NAVY but nooo they’re technically “marine”

3. I need a dress with pockets ASAP

4. Of course, the one I like is more expensive than the others.

5. Maybe the clearance rack will have something.

6. Nope, nothing “marine” over there. Darn.

7. Maybe I can start a GoFundMe for my dress.

8. Oh, I did NOT wear the right bra for this occasion.

9. Note to self: sports bras are probably not the best for bridesmaid’s dresses

10. Can someone zip me up?

11. Oh, you can’t get it to zip? That’s great. Terrific.

12. This size fits in a different dress though?? NONE OF THIS MAKES SENSE

13. Omg, I think I ripped this dress.

14. This is why I can’t have nice things.

15. Why are there so many mirrors in here? I could do without all these angles of my body.

16. Wow I really should’ve shaved before this

17. I think I found the one!

18. I can’t breathe in it but that’s normal, right?

19. Just remember, this will all be worth it in a few months.

20. Because your best friend is getting married and you love her and would do anything for her. Including not breathing for a night.

Despite all the shopping struggles, I am seriously pumped for this wedding. Being a bridesmaid is an honor, and it is so great to support someone you love on such an important day.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.

Cambio

Singing is something I do all day, every day. It doesn't matter where I am or who's around. If I feel like singing, I'm going to. It's probably annoying sometimes, but I don't care -- I love to sing! If I'm not singing, I'm probably humming, sometimes without even realizing it. So as someone who loves to sing, these are some of the feelings and thoughts I have probably almost every day.
