20 Thoughts You Have During Spin Class

Sure, your legs might feel like falling off and you're pretty sure you blacked out, but it's that moment of strength that keeps you going back.

20 Thoughts You Have During Spin Class

It's been a while since I've taken a cycling class. Mostly because the feeling of jell-o replacing legs was far too much for me to handle during my hectic college schedule. However, since it's the new year (and all that), I thought I'd make a habit of a weekly spin class...and then I went. Here are some common thoughts you may have at your first class back:

1. This is easy, it's just like riding a bike.

2. Why is the 60-year-old man going faster than I am?

3. THIS MUSIC GIVES ME LIFE!

4. Am I crying or am I sweating? Is it both?

5. Oh my God, I can't lift my feet off of the pedal.

6. I swear, I'm about to fall off the bike.

7. Ugh, this music makes me feel a lot better than I actually am.

8. "Ride to the beat." Can the beat be silent for just a second?

9. These are actual tears. I can't feel my legs.

10. WHY are we liftings weights while cycling?

11. The instructor is staring at me...why are you staring? Stop staring, don't you know a struggling person when you see one?

12. Technically, I'm doing pretty well. I haven't died yet, so that's good.

13. I'm never eating after this class.

14. Actually, maybe just a smoothie...or a burger.

15. It's only been 20 minutes?!

16. Girlie, why are you taking a selfie?! I promise, Snapchat doesn't want to see you sweating like a pig.

17. Hahaha I'm dead.

18. "Today be unstoppable, be invincible" YESSSS NEW LIFE MOTTO

19. It's already over?

20. Best hour I've ever spent, see you all tomorrow!

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

For many undergraduates across the nation, the home stretch has begun. Only one more semester remains in our undergraduate career. Oh, the places we will go! For the majority of college seniors, this is simultaneously the best and worst year out of the past four and here’s why.

1. The classes you are taking are actually difficult.

A schedule full of easy pottery throwing and film courses is merely a myth on the average campus. With all of those prerequisites for the upper-level courses and the never-ending battle you fight each year during registration for limited class seats, senior year brings with it the ability to register for the final courses you need to fulfill your major. Yet, these are not the easy entry level courses. These are the comprehensive, end of major, capstone courses designed to apply the knowledge from all your previous courses, usually in the form of an extensive research paper or engaged learning project. The upside is you actually probably really enjoy these classes but alas there is no room for slackers here.
