Exactly ten days from now I'll be turning the big 2-0. I've really never been one to make a huge deal about birthdays, I consider them pretty low key, although I do love surprising loved ones with celebratory events and whatnot. Every other birthday I've had before this upcoming one I've just thought to myself, "Okay, a year older today. I've been changing and growing this entire year so putting a specific date on it doesn't really matter much to me". But as this next week roles around, I've realized that turning 20 is actually an appropriate milestone and I'm impressed with all I've accomplished so far. Here are 20 quick things I'm thinking about as I turn 20:

1. Damn, five years from now I'll be 25 and that means I'm a quarter of the way to 100 years old.

2. Hooray, I beat teen pregnancy!

3. I'm officially out of the high teen years and on my way to accomplishing even more in my 20s.

4. Holy crap I guess I should start acting more like an actual adult.

5. Maybe I should start looking into internships that are related to my career.

6. Only one more dreadful year until I'm officially 21.

7. I am so incredibly happy with the people involved in my life and the ones that have had made it this far with me.

8. I've actually grown more than I thought was possible (Mentally and physically considering I'm almost 6'0 feet tall).

9. For me, college is halfway finished. And for others, you may also be almost done with something you're proud of.

10. I should probably learn to cook something else besides omelets and grilled cheese before I start living on my own.

11. I am so extremely thankful for everyone that's helped me get this far.

12. I hope the rest of my generation feels the same way I do about this milestone.

13. Wait I have to attend jury duty now?

14. Pretty sure I'm still an inner child.

15. I can't wait to tell people I'm 20 and see their reactions.

16. Crap I should probably start paying the interest on my student loans.

17. I'm turning 20 and I will continue to never settle.

18. *Sees on Facebook someone who's 20 getting married and having children* People are having kids at 20 and I still don't even pay my own phone bill.

19. I just realized I still have a curfew when I come home from school on breaks.

20. Yessss I'm finally 20!

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

Thanksgiving break is over and Christmas is just around the corner and that means, for most college students, one hellish thing — finals week. It's the one time of year in which the library becomes over populated and mental breakdowns are most frequent. There is no way to avoid it or a cure for the pain that it brings. All we can do is hunker down with our books, order some Dominos, and pray that it will all be over soon. Luckily, we are not alone in this suffering. To prove it, here are just a few of the many deranged thoughts that go through a college student's mind during finals week.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.
