1.Take a deep breath

There’s nothing like taking a deep breath. It refreshes you and calms you down all at once.

2. Wake up earlier

This is so hard for us college students, but when you wake up earlier, you feel much more productive.

3. Drink lots of water

Water is your best friend, especially after a night out. H2o can only benefit the body so drink up!

4. Make your bed

I find when I make my bed, my life feels put together. It’s always nice too coming home to a made bed after a long day.

5. Call your parents

This seems like a tedious task but trust me it’s worth it. Your parents are always there for you and giving them a ring shows them that you love them.

6. Send a funny text

I like to send funny pictures to a friend. It lightens up your mood and the person who receives the text.

7. Go to class

Yes I know class is not everyday, but you should attend it everyday of the week. You pay your tuition for a reason.

8. Listen to music

Music can instantly change the mood you are in. And it’s a nice way to stay occupied while walking to class.

9. Stay positive

It’s difficult to always be positive, but you can always try. If you get a bad grade on an exam, that’s okay. Don’t dwell on the negative.

10. Count your blessings

You don’t want to take anything for granted so know what you’re thankful for.

11. Love yourself

You are not going anywhere for awhile. And during your life, you will aways have yourself. So next time you look in the mirror, wink back at yourself.

12. Say thank you

Thank you is a short but kind gesture. If someone holds the door, say thank you.

13. Start on the assignments that are due in the future

Even if it is as simple as writing the header on your paper. This will get you ahead of wasting your time in the future on simple tasks. You can also tell your friends you started the paper and look like the MVP.

14. Eat an apple

An apple a day, keeps the doctor away. Any old fruit would do the job, but eating fruits don’t hurt. Even if it’s one, that can help your health and energy.

15. Go out of your comfort zone

Day after day we usually get stuck in a routine. So maybe go out of your way and do something spontaneous. Go talk to a stranger in class or introduce yourself to your professor. Maybe try a new food at a restaurant.

16. Exercise

Everyone dreads this one. It’s the hardest to get yourself to the gym, but once you workout, you feel invincible after. Those endorphins do really work.

17. Watch an episode of your favorite show

Watching your favorite show just keeps things in check.

18. Hangout with your friends

Although there are days where you can’t see them, try to see them everyday. You can talk about what you did that day and catch up. Wouldn’t hurt to watch Bacherlorette with them either.

19. Read

Don't worry it can be an article posted on the Internet. My favorite thing to do before I go to bed is read a chapter in Don’t Sweat the Small Stuff. The content is uplifting and the chapters are concise.

20. Stop obsessing over people on social media

Live your own life!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
