Christmas is all about huddling around the fire with loved ones, bundling up to enjoy the wintry air and getting a warm and fuzzy feeling in your heart. Even though this time of year is universal, we can't deny that how we spend the season varies from place to place.

Perhaps one of the largest variations is the weather. For those of us living in warmer climates, 'tis the season for iced coffee and long-sleeve tees. It can be rather difficult to participate in exciting activities and traditions when the weather doesn't allow you to so here is a list of things you miss out on when spending Christmas in warm weather.

1. Cuddling with a blanket is completely unnecessary and essentially useless.

2. There is no need to warm up with some hot cocoa or other favorite Holiday treats. Iced hot cocoa, anyone?

3. Hats, scarves, gloves and boots will never be winter necessities.

4. You are basically guaranteed no snow on Christmas. Actually, no snow almost ever.

5. Naturally, creating fake snow to play in outside seems like a feasible option.

6. Turning on the oven to bake delicious Holiday cookies only adds to how hot it already is. You must opt for a satisfying alternative.

7. Frosty and Olaf will never survive in these tropical conditions.

8. You must sacrifice the traditional Christmas tree for a palm tree.

9. If palm trees are in fact unavailable, you must settle on an artificial Christmas tree and hope for the best.

10. You must settle on wearing ugly Christmas t-shirts because ugly Christmas sweaters are hard to find.

11. You realize Arendale is not a real place you can move to, where you assume Christmas is all kinds of wonderful.

12. You can't add to the excessive heat by roasting chestnuts on an open fire.

13. Sledding is not an enjoyable past-time.

14. It may not feel like Christmas traveling to the beach, but it's always an option.

15. Because it already doesn't feel like Christmas living in such tropical condtions, you feel pressured to be even more festive than you already are.

16. Considering there is little to no fog, is Rudolph really needed to guide Santa's sleigh?

17. It is difficult to relate to all of your favorite Christmas tunes, but you still sing along.

18. Luckily, Santa can still be found in your local mall.

19. And fortunately, the warm weather is a reflection of the warm and fuzzy feeling in your heart.

20. Regardless of where you are this season, it's all about the people you spend this special time of year with.

Sorority
Rebekah Lee

I remember my freshman year oh so well. I remember feeling terrified the night before orientation. The one thing that I dreaded the most was not the new people, the new environment, or even the academic pressure. I was dreading having to talk to sorority girls about Recruitment. I remember cutting off and avoiding any Rho Gamma/Panhellenic Officer that came my way during First Week. I looked at them like they had asked me to cut my arm off whenever they asked me if I wanted to rush. To be honest, I did not even know what rush was, but I knew that I did NOT want to be a part of it. To me, it was dumb. It was a waste of money. It was a waste of my time.

And guess what? I did not rush my freshman year. I spent the first half of my freshman year isolating myself from everyone on campus. I spent all of my time in the library, and then (since I was a commuter) went back home once my work was finished.

Tiana would no doubt be disappointed in the food our cafeteria has to offer.

And hopefully she would cook for everyone in her dorm.

She definitley would not take any 8:00 am classes because she would be up late baking and cleaning up the communal kitchen that are available in every dorm.
