Spartans Drum & Bugle Corps

If you have not noticed by now I have been away for about a month and a half. The reason being is that I was on tour with the Spartans Drum and Bugle Corps. I've been to new places, and had new experiences under my belt this time around. I went to Virginia and Illinois for the first time in my life. Our drum corps received fifth place overall at finals and I could not be any prouder of my Spartans. This year was really different for us not only show wise but the approach was different and I felt closer to people than I ever thought I would. However, all good things must come to an end which post tour depression sets in and I wish I could go back two weeks into the past. I miss running back to my sets, I miss doing our daily ab work outs or our new exercises. I miss cleaning flag or dance work and I miss most of all are the friends that I made this year and the friendships that I got to cherish and build upon. So here are 20 things you can do when you get home from tour:

1. Cry

2. Sleep for the next 13 days.

3. Set "good morning Spartans, you have 7 minutes to be outside for wake and stretch. Bring a jacket it's a little chilly outside." as an alarm ringtone.

4. Rewatch the youtube video of your show about 26 more times.

5. Eat all the food you never got to have over tour.

6. Cry because you do not get to sleep next to your 150 best friends.

7. Wake up from your 13-day slumber sad because it is not a show day

8. Drink approximately 10 cups of coffee.

9. Find the nearest food truck with band moms and have them make you chicken patties.

10. Scroll through all the pictures you took with your friends at finals a billion times.

11. Literally, eat peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for every meal.

12. Post your body by drum corps pictures and wait for all the comments about your strange tan lines.

13. Cry because you have to shower alone.

14. Go over your sets in your dot book.

15. Do a run thru in your backyard.

16. Stare adoringly at your sock tan and nod in succession.

17. Continue to use your water jug as a source of hydration.

18. Do across the floors in your living room.

19. Download a countdown app to measure the days until you see your best friends again.

20. Cry some more.

I'm sure, like me, many of you received lots of gift cards over the holidays. After working retail seasonally, here are a few tips that I learned in order to make the employees at your favorite store just a little happier and not want to charge you extra on your purchase for being awful. Here are some times when you should be nicer to retail workers than you actually are!

5 Untold Struggles Of The Short Friend

I'm the Short Friend. I've been the Short Friend since about the seventh grade. I'm the one who stands in the front of the photos, gets made fun of for their height, and still shops in the kids department.

This article is not for the Almost Short Friends, i.e. the 5'3" and 5'4" Friends. No no, this is for the Actually Short Friends, i.e. the Barely Scraping 5'1" and shorter Short Friends.

11 Things All Call Center Workers Can Empathize With Better Than Anyone
Youtube

This semester I started my journey as a member of my University's Alumni Outreach Team. This means a lot of things, but primarily it means that I get to make phone calls to parents and alumni two nights a week to update contact information, collect things like business cards and volunteer hours, and even ask for money.
