Oh retail... how I love and hate retail all at the same time. I have good days and I have bad days. I have spent the past five years of my life working in retail. I have also been brought up in a family of those who are working in retail. I am aware of the ins, outs, and everything in between. Here are the few things that those in retail would get a good laugh at. Here are 20 things you can relate to if you work in retail:

1.When THAT customer walks through the door. It is 9:55 p.m. and the store closes at 10.

2.When someone wants to speak to the manager and they say the same thing as you said.

3.When the customer says "they are never coming back" and you react accordingly.

4.When you've explained something for the 3498520398583 time to a customer and they still don't understand.

5. When you know what "lunch rush", "Dinner rush" , and "Church rush" means, and that blissful feeling of when it's over.

6. When you know almost every word to all of the songs that play on the station and jam out, even if you don't like the song.

7.When that saying "the customer is always right" is not always true.

8. When you've herd for the 89532894248596 time the saying "it doesn't scan, it must be free".

10. When you have nightmares of the "beepy" noise of the register in your sleep.

11.When you have an awesome crowd of coworkers during your shift.

12.When you don't have an awesome crowd for your shift.

13. When you can't believe how stupid people can be.

14.When your coworkers are your BFFs

15. When your knowledge and people skills have developed over time, immensely.

16.When that light to a very dark day hits, your favorite regular comes in.

17. When you have the decency NOT to go into a place five minutes till it closes, because you know what it is like to be on the other end of the stick.

18. When you know something is not in the back, but you go to "take a look" anyway.

19. When you have that feeling of "I JUST FIXED THAT...F*$^K"

20. When you are trying to balance, work, school, life, sleep, drinking enough water, going to the gym etc. but wouldn't have it any other way. When you have that feeling of "it can be worse" but also, "the best is yet to come".

.....And that is 20 things that everyone can relate to when working in retail. :)

Dear Mom,

You took care of me and my brothers our entire lives and you still continue to! I will not be able to truly grasp all of the hard work that you put into this family until I create my own one day. But, I know that there are plenty of times I forgot to give you a simple thank you or an appreciative smile. I thank you for everything that you have done for me and will continue to do for me. Here are some examples of those times where you had my back and I forgot to pat your back for saving me:

College is hard. As people ages 18-22, we’re just trying to figure out what we’re doing with our lives, our careers, our eating habits, exercise routines, sleep patterns, and other necessities for adult life. We definitely don’t take proper care of ourselves; it’s basically impossible when we have essays, tests and readings due and somehow we’re supposed to eat right, exercise and sleep. We’re doomed to get sick. I have zero experience in science but when I get sick there are certain things I do to make myself better.

Now that it seems “talking” is the new way to date, and will stay that way until another idiotic term is used to describe the people who can’t settle down and just date someone, I feel as if it’s time to go over the unwritten rules of “talking.”

Rule 1. Having feeling without feeling.
