Anyone who has a sister, older or younger, knows that it's definitely not always painting each other's nails and getting along as best friends. Even so, there's no one else you would rather have annoy you. Whether you're best friends or drive each other up the wall, these 20 things are relatable to all!
1. Driving each other crazy without even touching one another.
"I'm not touching you!" Cue the other person screaming in frustration before your mom has to separate you.
2. Going out of your way to claim the best spot on the couch.
Sometimes it involves bribery. Sometimes it's making sure your parents hear that you "called" that spot before you even make it inside. And sometimes it requires a little bit of shoving to get to your desired position. But no matter what, you'll do everything in your power to get that spot, and hopefully the remote too.
3. Going through your sister's stuff when she's not home.
She's never going to let you borrow that hat, so borrowing it may require a little bit of sticky-finger maneuvering. It works out, though, because every time you snoop through her things you'll find a couple of your own. Fair is fair.
4. When you share food and always make sure you get the bigger portion.
It's a little tricky to get away with it depending on if you're parents are watching you or not, but sharing food is always a competition of who gets the bigger portion. Nine times out of ten, you make certain that it's you, especially if we're talking about dessert.
5. Having your sister sing the exact same lines of a song over. And over. And over.
"Either learn the rest of the song, or shut up!" If you have a sister that's inclined to getting songs stuck in her head (like me), these words are not unfamiliar at all.
6. When you snap and start smacking each other.
Sure, you'll both get in trouble later when your parents find out, but at the moment, it is so worth it. Besides, no one usually gets really hurt, and you'd feel bad if they did.
7. Constantly racing to be first.
Whether it's running to take the first shower or to the car because you called shotgun and want to be sure that's enforced, having a sister ends up being your cardio for the day.
8. When you get in trouble for something they did.
Nothing is more annoying than getting scolded or punished for something that you didn't even do. And, if you try to bring it up, odds are you got the "I don't care who did it, you're in trouble anyway" speech, so you just glare at your sister like this when your parents aren't watching.
9. When they get in trouble for something you do.
However, when the tables are turned, you do nothing to let your parents know that it was you and not your sibling. Sorry not sorry!
10. When your mom puts you in charge of your siblings.
You don't take any opportunity to be the boss for granted. Plus, you have the threat of being able to call your mom and have her tell them that you are, in fact, in charge.
11. When you mock their laugh just to get a rise out of them.
Sometimes, you just have to make fun of them. Because they did it to you first!
12. When you wear your sister's clothes and they look AMAZING.
It's so magical when that dress that looks good on her also looks great on you! Besides, if it looks that good, she has to let you borrow it. Right?
13. When you team up and try to get something from your parents.
Team work makes the dream work.
14. When you start losing it and they help you keep it real.
No one will keep it real like a sister.
15. When you hate someone because your sister does too.
Odds are if she dislikes you, I'm going to dislike you as well. It's the principle of the matter.
16. When you learn to drive first and become her personal chauffeur.
Sometimes you even let them pick the music!
17. When someone insults your sibling.
"It's only okay when I do that!!"
18. When people first meet you and say 'I could tell you were sisters!
And you don't get it.
19. But then you start acting weird together.
And it's like "okay, yeah, I get it."
20. And no matter what, you've always got each other's backs.
Having a sister has it's ups and downs, but hey, in the end, it's totally worth it.
