20 Things You Should Be More Afraid Of Than Clowns

You think people dressed up in the woods are scary? Check out some of these terrors.

By now we have all heard about those creepy clown sightings throughout the U.S. A good portion of the population seems to be terrified of these people who choose to put on a costume and walk around at night. Because we are all probably sick of hearing about them (or tired of worrying about them), I am here to provide you with a list of things that should actually be scarier to you than teenagers wearing big red noses.

1. Walking down the stairs in the dark

That feeling of absolute terror when you think there's one more step and there's not.

2. Dropping your phone

When it lands face down on the concrete, and you don't even want to pick it up and see the damage.

3. Bees (the alive ones and the dying ones)

They're scary when they're buzzing around your face, but it's even scarier to think that they're becoming endangered.

4. Getting called on in class when you weren't paying attention

I know I can't be the only one whose stomach drops when a teacher calls my name after a good few minutes of me zoning out.

5. The dentist

The sounds of drills and ultra-sonic scalers haunt my dreams.

6. Temperatures below zero degrees

The fact that here, in Minnesota, you can get frostbite some days with about 10 minutes of outside exposure should scare you.

7. Breaking your pencil during a test

You either ask a friend for one and get accused of cheating or awkwardly raise your hand until the teacher comes over.

8. Rabies

Hey, it can happen.

9. Getting to Chipotle and having them tell you they're out of chips

Why did I even come here then? What was the point?

10. Global warming

Soon, the Earth will be too hot for those dang clowns anyway.

11. Waking up and realizing you're out of coffee

Well, looks like you're going to Starbucks in your pajamas.

12. Driving behind one of these

If you've seen "Final Destination 2," you know what I'm talking about.

13. Donald Trump

I would rather run into 1,000 clowns in the woods than one Donald Trump.

14. Liking an Instagram post while stalking someone (probably from three years ago)

WHY DO THEY MAKE IT SO EASY TO ACCIDENTALLY DOUBLE CLICK POSTS?

15. Paper cuts

The pain of a million tiny blades slicing across your finger.

16. Eating spiders in your sleep

I do it. You do it. We all do it. It's a scientific fact.

17. Accidentally stepping on your dog or cat

If this doesn't make you feel like the worst human being, I don't know what will.

18. Hyenas

A terrifying mix of canine and feline.

19. Forgetting where you parked your car

But honestly, what happens if you don't find it?

20. Calling your professor or boss "Mom" or "Dad"

Maybe no one heard you, but chances are somebody did.

These are the things that should legitimately frighten you. People wearing wigs, makeup, and oversized shoes are nothing compared to running out of coffee and chips. Get your priorities straight, people.

Parks and Recreation excitedly gathered around a laptop at a table in an office setting.

The library. Club lib. The place every college student goes when they want to try and be a productive member of society. Who better to explain your experience than Parks and Rec?

1. When you've finally found the energy to leave your dorm room and walk into the lib like

Taylor Swift in orange dress playing a moss-covered piano on stage with bright lights.

A three-and-a-half-hour runtime. Nine Eras. Eleven outfit changes. Three surprise songs. Zero breaks. One unforgettable evening. In the past century, no other performer has put on an electric performance quite like Taylor Swift, surpassing her fans ‘wildest dreams’. It is the reason supporters keep coming back to her shows each year. Days later, I’m still in awe of the spectacle ‘Miss Americana’ puts on every few days in a new city. And, like one of Taylor’s exes, has me smiling as I reminisce about the memories of the night we spent together.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.
