So.. you're dating an independent girl? Well let me tell you, we can be some of the most stubborn girls you will ever meet. Not only are we strong, but we don't give up or accept help easily. Dating us can seem like a challenge, but it's definitely worth it. However, there are few things you must know about us and always remember:

1. Don't get mad if we want to do everything for ourselves.

It's not that we don't want help, it's just that we can do it ourselves, so we will. You helping us can be seen as a sign of weakness for ourselves, so we avoid it.

2. We can stand up for ourselves.

Is another girl bothering you? Let me talk to her. We don't look to pick fights, but when there's an important issue, we're not afraid to speak our minds. We're strong in our beliefs and values and we're never going to back down from them.

3. We can be really stubborn at times.

When we have our mind fixed on something, it can be hard to change our mind. We'll argue with you about it or sometimes even wrestle for it. We definitely won't give up easily.

4. We can be hard to love at times.

You want to give us the world, but we don't want to be spoiled. You always want to buy us dinner, but we want to pay for it ourselves too. You want to make lots of money to buy us stuff, but we can do the same for ourselves. It's not that we don't care about you - we definitely do - but we can accomplish everything on our own too.

5. We're always pushing ourselves to become better.

We have goals, we have dreams, we know what we want in life. We're never going to stop pushing ourselves to achieve those goals, even if that sometimes means putting you second.

6. We are perfectly fine with doing chores, running errands, or working out by ourselves.

If you want to come with us, that's cool, but we're definitely not going to wait around for you to make it happen. With that being said, you better be on time. We definitely don't like it when you're late either because we could've made other plans or gone on our own.

7. If we go to an event with you, we don't want you attached to our hip.

We're going to get annoyed. We are social butterflies and we want to socialize and make new friends, so let us explore. We're definitely not going to forget about you, but we just need some space.

8. We will always work hard for what we want.

We tend to take every opportunity we can to make money or advance in life. It's not that we're broke, we're doing alright financially, but every job we take is another step towards achieving our goals. If we want something, we don't want you to buy it for us because we take pride in our accomplishments. So don't expect us to call in sick if you bought concert tickets at the last minute.

9. If you want to go to a party with the guys or watch a football game, do it. We're cool with that.

Actually, we want you to spend time with your friends. Yeah, we enjoy spending time with you, but we have so much going on in our own lives that we just need some space once in awhile. Plus, it gives us the chance to spend time with our own friends as well.

10. We love the idea of marriage, but it has to be with the right person.

Even though we love having someone around to love and spend time with, we don't really need someone to take care of us. We chose to be in a relationship because we like you, not because we couldn't function or survive without you. We're perfectly capable of living our lives on our own.

11. We solve our own problems.

We need that bin off the top shelf? We'll grab a ladder. We want the salt? We'll go to the counter and grab it. We need a tissue? We'll go to the bathroom and grab it. We need to fill our gas tank? Just sit back and relax, we got this. We don't want your help, no matter how much you think we need it. I'll admit, sometimes we do like to have you get us stuff once in awhile, but it's all in good fun. Just don't expect it very often.

12. Don't be surprised if we don't listen to your advice.

It's not that we aren't listening to you, we are, but we've probably been through the situation already and know how to handle it. If not, please forgive us and let us try our own way first.

13. We get annoyed easily with "needy" people.

It's not that we're rude to them or anything, they just push our buttons more than others. Like, if we can buy our own food or workout by ourselves, why can't they?

14. We're going to push you past your limits.

Not only do we want to achieve our goals, but we want you to achieve yours too. We're not trying to nag you to get that job or pass that test because we think you're lazy, but because we know what you're capable of. You may not always see your strengths, but we do. So no, we're not just trying to be annoying.

15. We don't like it when you're clingy.

Step back, sit down, and give us some space. You might want to see us every day, but we don't. We don't like it when you blow up our phone every 5 seconds when we don't respond either. Odds are, we're probably working or doing homework, so breathe and don't freak out. We'll get back to you when we can. So don't make us feel smothered, otherwise we are going to pull away.

16. You need to trust us.

You're not going to see us every day or talk to us 24/7 (literally), so you need to trust that we'll always do the right thing.

17. You might not see us as often as you want.

It's not that we don't want to see you, we're just busy. We have work, school, sports, or other important commitments that take up most of our time. We will try to make time for you where we can, but sometimes it's only a quick visit at your work or a lunch date. So don't ask us to hang out every single day because chances are, we've got something going on or we just need a break from our own lives.

18. We don't need your permission.

We can make our own decisions and do our own thing. We don't need you telling us whether we can or can't do something. Like thanks for the approval, but I was going to do it anyways.

19. We can do anything that you can do.

You want to build a shelf? Here, let me help you. You need help painting? I can do it. You want to go fishing? Let me come and show you how it's done. We don't want to stick to those typical "woman roles." We hate the idea of staying inside and cleaning laundry all day, so we're going to go outside and be adventurous with you. And let me tell you, we're definitely not afraid to get down and dirty.

20. Don't try to change us.

You need to respect our goals and the things we like. We know what we want in life and we're definitely not going to change them for a guy. If you're not happy with our career goals, friends, or hobbies, find someone else. We already could live without you, so we don't need your acceptance to feel loved.

No matter what, we'll always love your affection and hearing how much we're loved. We know that we aren't always the easiest person to be with, so we love that you can put up with us. Sometimes it may not always seem like you're important in our lives or needed, but trust me, you are. You mean the world to us and we want to keep you in our lives forever.

5 Things To Do That Are Better Than Writing A Paper

Don't waste your time trying to write that paper when there are so many more interesting things you could be doing.

Writing a paper is never fun and is rarely rewarding. The writer's block, the page requirement, be specific, but don’t summarize, make sure you fixed any grammatical errors, did you even use spellcheck? and analyze, analyze, analyze.

Papers can be a major pain. They take up so much time and effort that by the end of the process you hate yourself and you hate the professor for making life so difficult. Questions of your existence start roaming in your mind. Am I even cut out for college if I can’t write a single paper? Am I even capable of taking care of myself if I lack the energy to open my laptop and start typing?

I can barely remember back when I was the only child. Most would say it’s because it is extremely difficult to remember things as a toddler but I would say it's because I was bored until my sister came along. My mother always says how important the "sister bond" is and with every year that passes I realize how right she is. Instead of writing a novel about all of the wonderful things there are about having a sister I decided to list a few of them instead.

It is the time of our lives that we are beginning to enter the adult world and most of us, if not all of us, have no idea what we are doing. It's like starting a video game, but skipping the tutorial. We're all just running around aimlessly hoping we accidentally do something right that moves us along the right path. Now that graduation has just happened, or is right around the corner for some of us, it's time to start thinking about how we are going to take care of ourselves once we are on our own.
