20 Things Ocean City, NJ 'Goers' Know For Sure

You might think The OC is a famous, celebrity-filled, bottle blonde breeding, travel destination on the West Coast, but you are wrong. Actually, the real OC is a 10-mile island in the state of New Jersey. Consisting of great people, and even better food, this place provides a "home away from home" for all who inhabit it. Those who reside there or simply spend their summers there agree on one certain fact: it is the best place on planet earth.

1. There is, and will never be a slice of pizza that compares to Manco and Manco’s.

2. You have a hard time saying "Manco and Manco" because your whole life there was a ‘Mac’ in there

3. All your cool “beachy” clothes have always been purchased at the 7th Street Surf Shop.

4. You never went to “the beach,” you only went to the shore.

5. Magic happened on the boardwalk.

6. You knew you were becoming an adult when you were able to ride the Double Shot,

7. No ride will ever compare to the Double Shot—fight us,

8. No trip could begin without a stop at Circle Liquors first.

9. You could only get up on the weekend if Dot’s donuts were waiting on the table.

10. “Wawa or Sheetz?” Nah, you'll take Blitz's.

11. Every childhood trip included a visit to the wooden park.

12. You cried when the wooden park was changed.

13. Shady stuff definitely went down in the surf mall.

14. You dreamed about decorating your college dorm with tapestry’s from the surf mall.

15. The mini-golf game was forever changed with Congo Falls.

16. Your first date consisted of mini-golf and a trip to Khor Bros.

17. You always donated money to vote for Miss Ocean City,

18. Every trip consisted of a visit to this blog for ideas for crafts: http://blog.pinklyperfect.com/

19. The real OC is the small island on the East Coast.

20. You lived 10 months for two—just to get to your happy place.

8 Things I Realized After My First Semester In College

Actually, Kylie Jenner, 2018 is the year of realizing things.

The first semester of college is famous for being one of the most difficult transitions of one's young adult life. You're thrown into a completely new area where the majority of the people surrounding you are strangers in an academic environment that's much more challenging then what you've grown accustomed to for the past twelve years. On top of that, you probably share a room with another person (or even multiple people) on the lumpiest "mattress" you've ever slept on.

With this change comes a lot of questions: what do I want to major in? What am I passionate about? Is what I'm passionate about something I'm actually good at? Why does the bathroom smell like cranberry juice and vodka? What is that thing at the bottom of the shower drain?

6 Unrealistic Expectations Society Has For Young Adults

Don't let the thesaurus-inspired vocabularies in our résumés fool you. We're actually just big kids.

Well over four feet tall and 100 pounds in weight, many of us "young adults" of the world still consider ourselves children. Big, working, college-attending, beer-drinking children. We may live on our own, know how to cook noodles, and occasionally use a planner, but don't be fooled; the youthful tendencies that reside within us still make their way into our daily lives. From choosing to stay up until 3:00 a.m. playing video games on a school night to going out in 30 degree weather without a coat, we still make decisions that our parents and grandparents would shake their heads at in disappointment. So why are we expected to know exactly how to be a wise, professional, sensible adult? It's not that we're irresponsible (for the most part, anyway). It's that we are young, inexperienced, and still have the sought-after, enthusiastic mentality that we can do and be whatever we want, which has not yet been tarnished by the reality of the world. These are just a few of the unrealistic expectations that society has for young adults.
