College has not been easy. Sometimes, at least for me, it has become more challenging rather than the fun adventure I pictured it to be. Sometimes I just want to give up. But, then I realized everything I have learned, all the lessons that have been taught and how much I have grown up, and I finally realized something... it will ALL be worth it in the end. So here are 20 things I have learned this far that are helping me push through these last two years.
1. Going out every weekend isn’t necessarily a “good thing"
2. The freshman 15 IS A REAL THING
3. It is super easy to skip class (but not recommended)
4. It is not only important, but necessary to take time to yourself
5. My parents actually are my biggest supporters and would do anything for me
6. You will have roommates that you love and roommates that aren’t your favorite
7. Netflix can easily distract all of your studying time
8. Friday classes are not worth it. EVER.
9. Quickly, you will learn to LOVE coffee.. I mean at least I did
10. It is much much harder to get up for a nine a.m. class than it ever was to get up at six a.m. in high school
11. You have to make an effort to get to know people in your class.
12. Dressing like a total slob is actually much more appreciated in college
13. Naps will become second nature
14. Switching you major once… or twice...is not uncommon...Or even switching colleges. You need to do what is best for YOU, not society.
15. Always stand firm in who you are and what you stand for because there will be obstacles
16. Getting homesick is not only normal but something that needs to happen to help you appreciate where you came from
17. Discussion boards are not only pointless but annoying
18. The library will become your new hangout (not somewhere to be embarrassed about being seen)
19. Calling your parents every once in a while is not a crime (but usually stress relieving)
20. Find something that makes you happy, and feel like you are worth it because you and college are TOUGH!
