The Susquehanna Valley, what a wonderful place to grow up. Although Pennsylvania is technically a northern state, the Susq Valley is just as rural as any southern state. Whether you've gotten out of south central PA, or you still call it home, here are 20 things that any native to the Lancaster area will know to be true.
1. Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays are "market days."
2. Someone in your family or a close friend goes to Penn State.
3. In fact, Penn State had such a big impact on the entire community that your high school probably had a mini Thon.
4. Once you turn 21, you go to Marion Court.
And every time you do it's like a high school reunion.
5. You can't leave your house without expecting to see at least five people you know.
6. You’ve grown accustomed to having the Monday after Thanksgiving off because...hunting season, duh.
Either you, someone in your family, or someone you know is a hunter.
7. Farm Show season is highly anticipated.
The milkshakes are dope and you probably know some farmers who will be showing an animal or two.
8. If you wanna feel hip, you go to First Friday.
And you always walk down Gallery Row.
9. Back in high school, you skipped school to go get breakfast at Shady Maple.
Because no one does a breakfast buffet better than the Mennonites.
10. The closest mall for anyone in Lancaster, Dauphin, and York counties is the Park City mall.
11. Whoopie pies are life.
12. Root's market is a one stop shop for produce, knock-off sunglasses, rebel flags, pocket knives and livestock.
13. You aren't Amish.
If you were, you wouldn't be reading this. So people, please stop asking!
14. Hershey Park has lost its charm.
When you live so close, it seems way less cool.
15. You will forever remember the terrifying experience of driving on route 30 for the first time.
Highways really aren't our thing.
16. Your favorite hangout spot, coffee place, and go to meeting spot is the Prince Street Cafe.
Because Lanc City is hip now, and so are you!
17. You've seen plenty of bands live at the Chameleon.
And you loved every second of it.
18. You live within five miles of a farm.
We all do.

Ocean City Maryland is where it’s at!
