20 Things I've Learned In 20 Years

In hindsight, twenty years is pretty short but I've learned a lot.

I might still be a "baby" to some but we're all still learning.

You don't have to be the first to apologize.

You are not responsible for how people react to you.

But always apologize when you're wrong.

You are responsible for what you say and you should always apologize when you've done something wrong.

You don't have to please anyone.

The only person you should worry about pleasing is yourself.

Family isn't always blood.

I've had friends that are more like family than some of the people I share genes with.

There is nothing wrong with being alone.

Everyone needs to refresh once in a while.

But don't isolate yourself all of the time.

Everyone needs to refresh ONCE IN A WHILE.

Chunky highlights weren't cool in high school and they aren't now.

Seriously though, who let me walk around like a zebra for half of my high school years?

Life is too short to worry about what people think about you.

Who cares what others think if you like yourself for who you are?

Don't be afraid to take chances.

Life gets too boring if you're stuck in the same old rut.

Don't be afraid to admit you made a mistake.

To quote Hannah Montana, "everybody makes mistakes."

Spend time with the people you care about.

You're not guaranteed tomorrow.

Even if you hate pictures, take the stinking picture!!

Pictures are worth a thousand words.

Say I love you often.

Even if you're mad, tired, or upset, tell them that you love them.

Confrontation is a part of life.

I know you don't want to talk about it, but it NEEDS to happen.

It's okay not to be okay all the time.

Don't hide how you're feeling. Everyone needs to process.

Try new things!

Step out of your comfort zone and try something new. 9 times out of 10 you'll find out it's not that bad.

Calling is better than texting.

I'd much rather hear someone actually laugh out loud instead of receiving an "lol" text.

You are responsible for your own happiness.

If you can't make yourself happy, no one else can.

Ask for help when you need it.

You shouldn't be ashamed to say you need help.

Take life a day at a time.

Life is way too short to worry about the tomorrow's you have no control over.

From sea to shining sea, the United States was uniquely positioned for an incredible Aurora Borealis display on Thursday, Oct. 10, 2024, going into Friday, Oct. 11.

It was the second time this year after an historic geomagnetic storm in May 2024. Those Northern Lights were visible in Europe and North America, just like this latest rendition.

To My Loving Boyfriend,

  • Thank you for all that you do for me
  • Thank you for working through disagreements with me
  • Thank you for always supporting me
  • I appreciate you more than words can express
  • You have helped me grow and become a better person
  • I can't wait to see where life takes us next
  • I promise to cherish every moment with you
  • Thank you for being my best friend and confidante
  • I love you and everything you do

To start off, here's something I don't say nearly enough: thank you. Thank you, thank you, thank you from the bottom of my heart. You do so much for me that I can't even put into words how much I appreciate everything you do - and have done - for me over the course of our relationship so far. While every couple has their fair share of tiffs and disagreements, thank you for getting through all of them with me and making us a better couple at the other end. With any argument, we don't just throw in the towel and say we're done, but we work towards a solution that puts us in a greater place each day. Thank you for always working with me and never giving up on us.

Because no one ever really leaves.

Ah, yes, good old Hauppauge. We are that town in the dead center of Long Island that barely anyone knows how to pronounce unless they're from the town itself or live in a nearby area. Hauppauge is home to people of all kinds. We always have new families joining the community but honestly, the majority of the town is filled with people who never leave (high school alumni) and elders who have raised their kids here. Around the town, there are some just some landmarks and places that only the people of Hauppauge will ever understand the importance or even the annoyance of.

1. It's easy to be fooled by shiny things.

Tamatoa created a liar filled with shiny things simply for the purpose of tricking fish to enter and become his food. He too experiences a lesson in how easy it is to be tricked by shiny things when Moana distracts him by covering herself in glowing algae so Maui can grab his hook.
