So, in case you're wondering, no, I wasn't always from Poughkeepsie. I used to be from a small town in central Pennsylvania called Lewisburg. Lewisburg boasts a population of just under 6,000 people, and is very, very tiny! As you can imagine, we had to create most of our fun, so here is a list of some of my favorite memories of Lewisburg, Pennsylvania!
1. The Middle School Dances
School dances. They're awkward, uncomfortable, and altogether a pain in the ass. No school dance can ever compare to how awful and uncomfortable the dances were at my middle school. It was literally a club, accept filled with 10 year olds completely sugar drunk off of 50-cent sodas! As you can imagine, it was not pretty. Around every corner, you could see a girl in the fetal position crying about how their boyfriend broke up with them because they wore too many Silly Bandz, or they poked another boy.
2. The Linntown Intermediate School Playground
Just to capitalize on how little there was to do, I needed to include this playground. I can't even tell you how many days my friends and I came down there to play after school. We did that in 8th grade. School for those kids ended in 5th grade. We didn't even fit in most of the equipment, but we still managed to make our own fun!
3. Hufnagle Park.
Hufnagle park, (pronounced HOOF- NAH- GALL) was the classic high school hangout. Rumors of stuff that went down there range from ghosts at night, to a couple getting it on in the big yellow tube slide! Chances are, none of those are true, but it sure was fun to believe that there were ghosts when we played there.
4. Late Night Taco Bell
I don't know if this was just a me thing, but my late-night Taco Bell runs made Lewisburg bearable. Back when the 5 Dollar Big Box was still a thing, and it was ACTUALLY 5 dollars (yes, that was a call out, Taco Bell if you're reading this, BRING IT BACK!!!), Taco Bell was my life blood. It also doubled as a KFC, which totally made my life complete!
5. The Arts Festival
Interesting trip. Only Lewisburg can take what can fit in the Civic Center in Poughkeepsie, and make it stretch a full mile through downtown. It was always fun to go and watch all the little kids shooting each other with marshmallow shooters, and foam tipped bows and arrows! Always a good time.
