Sometimes it can be hard to find a place to study. It's too noisy. There are too many people. You can't focus with everything that's going on around you. With finals approaching, the last thing you need is any more distractions. I have found that listening to music really helps, but not that modern hip hop stuff. I end up just singing the words and trying to create a dance instead.

After much trial-and-error, I finally found what works for me. I created a playlist in Spotify with all of my favorite studying music. I listen to it everytime I have a huge test coming up and they help me focus so much. They're simple songs without lyrics, but powerful. Even if you don't use them for studying, they still put you in a good mood when you need to relax. Feel free to check out my playlist and try it out for yourself! Maybe this is the study technique you've needed all along!

My "Peace and Quiet" playlist includes:

1. "Night" - Ludovico Einaudi

2. "Fidelity" - RannarSillard

3. "Truth" - Peter Sandberg

4. "Shifting Pavements" - Martin Gauffin

5. "It's in the Trees" - Martin Gauffin

6. "Panoramas" - August Wilhelmsson

7. "We Are Forever" - They Dream By Day

8. "Our Secret Universe" - Alan Ellis

9. "Elements" - Ludovico Einaudi

10. "Curses" - Martin Gauffin

11. "Departure (Home)" - Max Richter

12. "Throes" - Half Moon Run

13. "A Silver Lining" - They Dream By Day

14. "Because This Must Be" - Nils Frahm

15. "Ella's Lullaby" - Enno Aare

16. "Sugarcane" - Ana Olgica

17. "This Moment" - Bela Nemeth

18. "The Watchtower" - Sigimund

19. "Water Sign" - East Forest

20. "Nuvole Bianche" - Ludovico Einaudi

...and many more! Check out my complete playlist on Spotify!

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.
