Prepare to get nostalgic. That's right, we're going old school and reliving the good ole days with 20 old songs that way better than anything you've listened to on the radio right now.
1. "I Want To Hold Your Hand" by The Beatles.
This list couldn't start any other way. No boy bands on the radio now will compare to The Beatles because they could never have the same impact on popular music as they did.
2. "Let It Be" by The Beatles.
Did you honestly think I could only put one Beatles song on the list?
3. "Can't Help Falling In Love" by Elvis Presley.
After the viral Extra gum commercial, who can deny the lasting power and overall strength of this everlasting love song?
4. "Signed, Sealed, Delivered (I'm Yours)" by Stevie Wonder.
Several commercials have used this song over the years so it may be familiar to some, but this is one of my favorite Stevie Wonder songs. In my opinion, nothing on the radio now can touch Stevie.
5. "You Make My Dreams" by Hall and Oates.
Not enough millennials know who Hall and Oates are, but I'm sure many have heard their songs. You really can't go wrong with them.
6. "Fly Me To The Moon" by Frank Sinatra.
Other than Michael Buble, how many crooners are on the radio now? Nothing compares to a classic Sinatra love song.
7. "September" by Earth, Wind & Fire.
Also known as the unofficial Dollar Store anthem, this song has a place in the childhood memories of many. I was also forced to play it in a medley of Earth, Wind & Fire in my middle school band, so it also has a special place in my heart.
8. "I Can't Help Myself (Sugar Pie Honey Bunch)" by The Four Tops.
Not only is this song one of my all-time favorites, but it is a classic Motown record. Sure it has a cheesy title, but so do songs now.
9. "Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go" by Wham!
I dare you to listen to this song without wanting to do the Carlton.
10. "It's Tricky" by Run- D.M.C.
Enough said, right?
11. "Any Way You Want It" by Journey.
Don't get me wrong. "Don't Stop Believin'" is a great song. In my opinion, even though "Glee" did both, this one is better.
12. "Faithfully" by Journey.
Yes, "Glee" did this one, too, and for good reason. No, two Journey songs are not too many to be on this list.
13. "Everyday" by Buddy Holly.
This song fits every mood. Fail your test? The song fits. Just got the job interview? The song fits. How many songs on the radio now can you think of that do that?
14. "Pour Some Sugar On Me" by Def Leppard.
Apparently young Taylor Swift grew up on Def Leppard. What does that say about the song? I don't know, but take a listen.
15. "Wouldn't It Be Nice" by The Beach Boys.
The Beach Boys had such a unique sound that has yet to be rivaled on the radio.
16. "My Girl" by The Temptations.
Very few people know the guy who actually wrote the iconic bass line. The studio musician, not one of the credited writers, was the one with the idea.
17. "Sweet Home Alabama" by Lynyrd Skynyrd.
If this doesn't make you want to grab a bucket of fried chicken and an ice cold drink, are you even listening?
18. "Respect" by Aretha Franklin.
A big part of why I picked this song was because of the artist. Aretha Franklin was one of the first powerhouse divas. This song was the "Single Ladies" of its time.
19. "Sweet Child O' Mine" by Guns N' Roses.
This song is the definition of a classic. Many people know this song from the car scene in the Will Ferrell movie "Step Brothers," but if you haven't heard the original, where have you been?
20. "End Of The Road" by Boys II Men.
Very few R&B artists on the radio today will shape their genre like Boys II Men did. I challenge you to find another act that has better harmonies.
