It's that time of year again! Summer flew by (as always), and the excitement for the semester builds. Whether you're going to be a freshman or senior, here's a few tips to keep in the mind as you begin the new year.
1. Begin your healthy habits now.
2. Make sure you love what you're majoring in.
3. Mistakes are inevitable. Learn from them and move on.
4. Boyfriends and friends come and go; your family never will.
5. You won't realize how much you love and miss dogs until you see one.
6. Don't sweat the small stuff. Save your energy for the important things.
7. There will be plenty more parties, socials, and date nights. You'll thank yourself you "missed out" when you ace your test and pull out an A in your class.
8. Go to office hours. Professors don't bite (okay, maybe a handful of them, but just go).
9. Go to class. Just do it.
10. A 'set up' or 'random' date may just end up being the best one yet.
11. When you want to break down and cry, call home. Momma knows best.
12. Join a church.
13. Take too many pictures.
14. Rate My Professor will be your best friend.
15. Understand and accept the fact that people change and so do you.
16. Set some personal standards, and never let anyone or anything change them.
17. Join an organization with people who share your similar passion.
18. There's never a bad time to FaceTime your dog at home.
19. You're probably not going to meet your future spouse at an event where tutus, body shots, and glow sticks are acceptable. Sorry, but let's be real.
20. Enjoy every second because they're not kidding when they say it flies by.
It's the best of times, and it's the worst of times. While we're here, we'll cherish it and live up to its stereotypical ways. So here's to you college, Wikipedia, Red Bull, and Google. We thank you and we love you.
