20 Signs Your Roommate Is Your Best Friend
James Emery

Man, did I get lucky with my freshman roommate. I came in hoping she would be tolerable, little did I know she was about to become one of my best friends. I hear horror stories about my other friends and their roommates and I just can't help but think how lucky I am to have her in my life. So, this one's for you, Miko.

1. When you see each other for the first time after break, its like nothing changed

2. You stay up way too late talking about your feelings

Like, way too late.

3. Surprise gifts

4. They don't judge your food intake

Just the other day she ate a 40 pack of pizza rolls. I encouraged her the whole time.

5. You know exactly what the other is thinking just by the look on her face

6. You have your own language

Yeeeaaas.

7. Nap times

8. Synchronized emotional breakdowns

Once one of us starts, the other isn't too far behind.

9. They can be your best motivator or your worst influence

In all aspects of life.

10. They know every name on your R.I.P List

The R.I.P List is basically a list of your ex's.

11. They stop you from contacting the people on your R.I.P List

12. Your friends back home are her friends

13. They remember your deadlines

And hold you to them.

14. They tell you when you look like trash (and when you look gorgeous)

15. They just know

She's a wizard, I swear.

16. They know your limits

And push them.

17. They've seen you at your best (and your worst)

18. They encourage your obsessions

19. They know every dirty little secret

Every single one.

20. You can't imagine living with anyone else

Love you, girl.

College is super hard. Between working, studying, and having a social life, it feels like a struggle to just keep afloat.

I understand. When you feel like your drowning and there's no way to stay afloat I understand that it feels like everyone else is doing just fine. I understand all the frustration, long nights in the library, and that feeling that you want to just throw in the towel. I understand that sometimes it's too hard to get out of bed because your brain is already filled with too much information to remember. I understand because I am also feeling pretty burnt out.

No Matter How Challenging School Gets, You Have To Put Your Health First — A Degree Won't Mean Anything If You're Dead

Some of the best advice I've ever received was from my social studies teacher in sophomore year of high school. He stated, "If you don't know it at midnight, you're not going to know it for the 8 a.m. exam, so get some sleep."

It's such a simple piece of advice, but it holds so much accuracy and it's something that the majority of college students need to hear and listen to. "All-nighters" are a commonality on college campuses in order to cram in studying for an exam that is typically the next day.

Obsessive Thoughts Keep My Brain Stuck On A Loop And Me Stuck On My Couch

Sometimes my brain just starts turning on an idea and it doesn't want to stop.

I don't know if it is related to my anxiety, perfectionism or depression. I don't know why it happens. It's frustrating, it's painful and it stops me from functioning.

girl with a hat

This is for the girls who have dealt with an emotionally, mentally, physically or verbally abusive father.

The ones who have grown up with a false lens of what love is and how relationships should be. The ones who have cried themselves to sleep wondering why he hurts you and your family so much. This is for all the girls who fall in love with broken boys that carry baggage bigger than their own, thinking it's their job to heal them because you watched your mother do the same.
