From the day I was born until now, there has been one person that has been unconditionally invested in my happiness: my mom. As children, we rely on our mothers for everything –– food, clothing, shelter, love. As teenagers, we forget the importance of such a figure, and we lack and ability to appreciate all of the beautiful things that she has done for us throughout our lives. As we grow older, we realize just how important she truly is, not only to our past but to our present and future. Ever since I was little, my mom has been my hero, my role model, and before anything else, my best friend.
Here are 20 signs that you will relate to if your mom is your best friend, too.
1. She is most definitely the Lorelai to your Rory.
2. She gives you constructive advice.
3. You brag about her to all of your friends.
4. You think the characteristics that you once thought were 'weird' about her are actually the greatest things about her.
5. She's the first person you text/call when something exciting happens.
6. She's also the first person you text/call when nothing exciting happens.
7. Actually, you just text her pretty much 24/7.8. She picks on you a lot, but you don't mind it because you do the same to her, and she never gets mad.
9. It didn't take going away to college for you to realize how much she means to you.
10. You worry about her just as much as she worries about you.
11. She doesn't usually mind how annoying you are.
12. You don't hate to admit that she's always right.
13. She's your biggest fan – always has been, always will be.
14. You know exactly what she's thinking when she gives you 'the look.'15. She sees right through your lies.
16. You cried before her on freshman move-in day.17. Even in those awful pre-teen "I hate everything" years, you still secretly loved your parents more than anything.
18. She can read your friends better than you can.
19. You've ditched your friends because you want to hang out with her instead.
20. At the end of the day, you know you owe it all to her.
I don't know where I would be without my mom. She's the best friend I've ever had.
