20 Signs You Grew Up In Brunswick, Ohio

Brunswick, Ohio: A little town nestled outside of Cleveland. Brunswick is filled with wonderful homes and even better people. I am proud to say I'm from Brunswick, and if you relate to these signs, you may be too!

1. You hate Strongsville and Medina.

The rivalry dates back many generations, and still continues today. We always beat them, anyways.

2. You know that Cozumel is more than just a place where people vacation.

Whether it is the amazing chips and salsa, fast service or fun atmosphere, Cozumel is a local legend. You are guaranteed to see someone you know every time you walk through those doors.

3. Polar Pops run through your veins.

If you didn't roll up to school or football games without a Polar, you were doing life wrong. Polar runs were the best runs.

4. The GNC sign guy changed your life.

What ever happened to him?? His sign spinning talents were incredible, causing many honks and smiles.

5. Old Fashioned Day's were your summer move.

Bonus points if you held your middle school crushes hand on the ferris wheel.

6. You've been to a festival at Mapleside.

Mapleside is known for its upbeat festivals, good food and beautiful scenery.

7. You've played a sport for the recreation center.

Gotta love those participant medals we all got at the end of the year banquets.

8. You understand the rivalry between Brunswick North and Brunswick South.

Brunswick South was made up of Edwards and Visintainer middle schools, while Brunswick North was just Willets middle school. Everyone knew during the blue and white games that the real winner would come out on top.

9. You've been to Applebee's after a football game.

After every game, win or lose, everyone would swarm to Applebee's to get those half priced appetizers. You were bound to see the entire student section.

10. You've been to a birthday party at the Skate Station.

Ah, the memories. Skating around with your best friends to the hits of the 2000s while eating the ice cream with the wooden spoon, it all seems like yesterday.

11. You know what a chesticle is.

Chesticles were the most dedicated fans in the student section. They had the honor of sitting front row every game, rain or shine. It was always a fun tradition as a senior to be able to paint the chesticles, and to also cheer on the team with them.

12. You've tripled parked at the high school during winter time.

You have either done it, or have been a victim of it. It seemed like everyone forgot how to drive once snow hit the parking lot.

13. The rec was your middle school hot spot.

The boys loved to shoot hoops while the girls sat on the sidelines and watched them. It was also really cool to sit outside and loiter.

14. You have been personally victimized by pot holes.

Driving down Grafton or 303 has caused some damage to your car and your heart.

15. You know that "Christie" is more than just a girls name.

We all always wondered what happened behind those doors..

16. You know the unfortunate bad luck of this place.

From Mr. Chicken to The Great American Chicken & Waffle, this place has hosted a number of companies, however none of them seem to stick.

17. You have seen the Brunswick 80s guy.

We have all have seen him walking down the streets, jamming to his music. The 80s guy is a Brunswick legend.

18. You've been to a $5 movie at Hickory Ridge Cinema.

You can't beat those deals.

19. You will forever bleed blue and white.

Whether you were rivals in middle school, or never played a sport, we are still Blue Devils, and blue and white will always be our colors.

20. Brunswick will always be your home.

Whether you went away to college, moved later in life, or found yourself somewhere else, you'll always find your home back in Brunswick. Because that is exactly what Brunswick is and what it stands for; home.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.
