At Texas State University, we have traditions and habits different from any other college. Aside from living in the beautiful city of San Marcos, we have an awesome university with an abundance of amazing students and faculty. But here are some things that you can relate to that will make you love San Marcos and Texas State even a little more.


1. Running out of breath every time you climb the Alkek stairs.

2. Satisfying your hunger by getting gas station tacos at 2 a.m.

3. Seeing Frisbee Dan out and about at Sewell Park.

4. Taking a party bus to 6th Street on the weekends.

5. Knowing about the "Sun God" of Sewell Park.

6. Knowing that going to the square on a Tuesday night for "Dollar Dos" may or may not be a good idea.

7. Rubbing the stallion statue on campus for "good luck" on your exams.

8. Forever hating the trains that make you late for class.

9. Going to HEB and hearing the famous "Pizza Lady" offer samples.


10. Trying the famous Manske Roll from Gil's Broiler.

11. Spending the day at Stokes Park.

12. Making your way to the outlets whenever you need some new clothes.

13. Drinking 99 cents margaritas at Grins.

14. Hiking at purgatory trail.

15. Tanning on bikini hill.


16. Going tubing and to float fests.

17. Attending the Sights and Sounds yearly festival.

18. Owning a "San Marvelous" shirt.


19. Jumping in the river after you graduate.

20. Getting excited about football season and tailgates.
