Temple University students are known for their unique interests, diversity, ground breaking discoveries, and much more. There are many other characteristics that are unique to Temple as well. Many of these are sacred to Temple students and only a true Temple student would really understand. So here are some characteristics that make us Temple students unique.

1. You have referred to yourself as being "Temple Made."

This slogan is unique to Temple and is also one of their marketing standpoints. Many students also refer to themselves as being "Temple Made" when they tell others that they attend Temple University. You also may see the oh so popular "Temple Made" crew neck that is sold in the book store if you ever take a walk around Temple University's campus. Being "Temple Made" is a privilege and any Temple student will be proud to tell you they are "Temple Made."

2. You really don't care that much if the football team loses, unless its against Penn State.

Lets face it, Temple has not had the strongest football team the past few years. It has been something the students have all had to cope with. Lucky for us, we live in the city of Philadelphia and can easily count on them having a slightly more successful season. But, for some reason, there is this huge rivalry between Temple University and Penn State. So, you could definitely say the Temple community was not in the best mood after we faced them in the 2014 season, but we are more than pumped to take them on again this year.

3. You do care when the basketball team loses.

We need to have at least one team we enjoy cheering on! Might as well be the team that has the fifth most winning history in the nation.

4. If you are a female, you have been hit on plenty of times.

Especially for those girls who live off campus, it is inevitable that you will be cat-called or hit on by a someone. Don't worry, it is completely harmless but can be sometimes uncomfortable. My personal favorite line a local has said to me occurred one day when I was walking home in the rain without an umbrella. Someone noticed that I was pretty much soaked at this point and said, "Honey, don't you know sugar melts?!" I simply passed with a pleasant, "thank you" and we both went on our merry ways.

5. You are more than used to there being construction on campus.

Oh, they're tearing down a building again and I can't walk this way?

6. You look forward to President Theobald's BBQ.

Every semester on Temple's campus, President Theobald, Temple's tenth and current president, throws a barbecue. The best part is that he is out there himself grilling the hamburgers and hot dogs for all of the students FOR FREE and who doesn't love free food?

7. You know the struggle of not being able to find a computer in the TECH center.

Yes, the TECH does have 600 computers. No, that is not enough computers for the 26,000 undergraduates that attend Temple. Thank goodness there are 40 other computer labs on campus, right?

8. You have been to Richie's at least once.

You just have.

9. Friends are scared to visit you and everyone always asks you if its safe.

It is only North Philadelphia, nothing to be afraid of... unless you are walking around with money sticking out of your pockets.

10. You are not friends with the squirrels.

Maybe eating inside isn't such a bad idea today.

11. You have run into a Greek canshake.

Can shakes are one of the most successful ways to raise money for philanthropies. So they won't stop.

12. You have suffered through Mosaics.

Everyone suffers, and everyone passes.

13. You have eaten at the Creperie.

If you haven't you're not actually a Temple student.

14. You have heard the preacher at the Bell Tower.

Mostly because he has a microphone and stands in the middle of everyone trying to make their way to class. It gets even better when you notice them holding huge signs that can't miss your eye. Sometimes you wonder what would happen if a huge wind gush comes and knocks them over....or maybe that's just me.

15. You have taken a picture in the TU Big chair.

Chances are you took this picture as a freshman, on your tour, or when your parents visit.

16. You have binged at J&H.

All you can eat means all you can eat. If you don't get food from every station there, then you're just doing all you can eat wrong. And don't forget to leave room for the ice cream bar.

17. You have done the Temple fight song.

T for Temple U!!!!

18. You have seen tour guides walking around campus.

We're everywhere and its our job. Being a campus tour guide has been one of the best experiences of my life. Tours have to be done and someone has to do them.

19. Almost every student has or has had an internship.

Being in the city, Temple students have access to all of the large companies throughout the city. This is really helpful with getting students internships because there is so much available right at their fingertips.

20. You have extreme pride in being a Temple student.

Being a Temple student is a unique feeling. Being right in the heart of one of the most amazing cities in the world, there is so much adventure and excitement available to all Temple students. Something about being a Temple student just gives you a warm feeling whenever you are on campus, cheesy right? But very true.

So let's fight, fight, fight for the cherry and the white, for the cherry and the white we'll fight, fight, fight!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
