The inner awkward, nerd-child that had been tucked away somewhere deep inside all of us has recently been unleashed on a global scale with the release of Pokemon Go-the smartphone app version of the 90's original video game that every person on the planet had played at least once. If you are one of these people that had played the original, there is a pretty good chance you are playing Pokemon Go, whether it be for the sake of nostalgia, or just as an addition of the obsession for you that never ended. I've recently made some observations that have lead me to believe that Pokemon Go is starting to take over the lives of some of us. If you identify with any of these don't be ashamed, so does a good chunk of the rest of the world (including me).

1) You reached level 12 and took over your nearest gym within your first 3 days of playing

2) You don’t sleep because you stay up at night researching how to find rare Pokemon

3) You've stayed up all night at least once to take down/take over a gym

4) When you do sleep, you have live action dreams of being a trainer

5) You've considered signing up with another Google account to change up your starter Pokemon and team

6) But you couldn't do that now because you've come too far and you have to keep going if you're going to be the very best no one ever was

7) You’re considering taking, or have already taken, an impromptu road trip to a destination at least 50 miles away because you’ve read about rare Pokemon showing up there

8) You’re usually anti social but have recently made 20 new friends with whom you now regularly go Pokemon hunting with

9) There is tension among you and your new found friend group over Team Instinct vs. Team Mystic vs. Team Valor

10) Pokemon Go is all you want to talk about with your family, friends, and co-workers

11) When you find a Pokemon newbie you feel the need to school them on the origins of Team Instinct, Mystic, and Valor

12) Your entire day is ruined when you wake up to the "We're sorry but our servers are down" message

13) You often find yourself frustrated that you can't trade Pokemon with other users

14) You've spent more than $5 in the shop

15) You've spent most of your coins on Incense and Lures

16) You've considered requesting more Pokestops and/or Gyms in your area

17) Your idea of a daily good deed is placing lures in all of your nearby Pokestops

18) You’ve taken a sudden interest in the stock market

19) If this is you, stop playing this game right now... You’re trying to catch Pokemon in the car causing you to drive very slow, effectively pissing off every driver around you.

20) You’ve tried to catch actual animals, mistaking them for Pokemon.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
