Why You Should Go Through Sorority Recruitment

With school just starting and students buzzing everywhere on campus, it seems like everyone is starting to get back into the groove of school. People are everywhere, catching others up about their summer excursions, and chatting about their classes this semester. With the new semester being here, that also means clubs and organizations all across campus are looking to bring in new members. I am particularly grateful that I decided to go through sorority recruitment the first few weeks of my freshman year and meet so many amazing women that I love and strive to be today. I would suggest any woman at college to consider going through sorority recruitment, and here are a few reasons why:

1. You join an amazing organization that raises a TON of money for a cause that you will be sure to fall in love with.

2. You make more than just friends, you make sisters and people who will be there for you no matter what.

3. You have 50+ more closets to shop from.

4. You meet women you wouldn't have if you did not go through recruitment.

5. Even if you decide a sorority isn't the thing for you, you still come out of it meeting and engaging with so many awesome people.

6. You get to learn about so many different philanthropies and organizations.

7. You find your best friends and mentors.

8. You come out of college with so many connections you wouldn't have made if you didn't go through recruitment and meet so many people.

9. Everyone is so supportive.

10. Contrary to the stereotypes, you meet so many interesting people from different walks of life.

11. There is ALWAYS someone to hang out with.

12. You will probably have a class with at least one sister.

13. You form connections and bonds with sisters of other sororities.

14. Everyone in the Greek community is so uplifting and is always looking to help you become the best version of yourself.

15. There are endless leadership opportunities within a sorority, and this is really good experience once you go out in the real world and get an internship or serious job.

16. You get to participate in so many different fundraisers and events that raise money for a greater good. It's also fun to participate and go to an event that another organization in the Greek community holds.

17. There is always something to do once you're in a sorority.

18. You learn how important it is to present yourself the best way you can on social media. This is something you'd have to do if you were looking for a serious job, or internship anyway.

19. You make friendships and connections that are sure to last a lifetime.

20. Going through recruitment will change your perspective on Greek life and make you realize how beneficial to your time at college being in a sorority will be.

I'm an anthropology major, and I love every minute of it. I couldn't tell you why, but I guess there's just something about studying different lifestyles that absolutely fascinates me. But anthropology majors definitely have our weird sides, especially when you go to a school that is filled with mostly Business and Bio majors. But us weirdos definitely have a lot in common, specifically these 16 things.

Everyone has insecurities, that's just a fact. You didn't ask to be born this way. You didn't ask to inherit the one trait no one else in your family has. And you definitely didn't ask to be this ghostly white. But as soon as you've learned to live with it for a while (less wrinkles later on in life, right? right???) someone has to ruin it for you. They have to flaunt they're perfectly tanned body from Spring Break and hold their sun-kissed skin against yours. But I've had enough... here are the things that perpetually pale individuals are tired of hearing.

Being a part of any organization undoubtedly comes with the pitfalls of being grouped into negative stereotypes, and sororities are certainly no exception. Here are the top few things, that I find at least, are some of the most irritating misconceptions that find their way into numerous conversations...

8. "The whole philanthropy thing isn't real, right?"

Well all those fundraisers and marketing should would be a waste then wouldn't they?

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.
