20 Reasons I'm Thankful For My "Person"

Life is a journey that seems like a roller coaster a majority of the time. I go from being extremely excited about something in life to an emotional wreck the next. I go through random phases of "leave me alone" or "please don't leave me," and you came into my life at just the right time in order for me to have these phases. Had it not been for you and everything we've been through in life already, I don't know where I would be.

You came into my life and we went through the awkward "I don't really know how to trust you" phase to always being together and getting on each other's ever living nerves from being together a little too much. You've been a friend, a sister, but now you're just simply "my person" and I could not thank you enough for coming into my life when you did.

Thank you...

1. For always being honest with me, even when it hurts.

2. For our random spontaneous adventures.

3. For always knowing how to make me laugh especially when I'm beyond the point of pissed.

4. For being petty with me when someone pisses me off.

5. For encouraging me to be myself and be who I want to be every single day.

6. For teaching me that it's okay to be different and weird.

7. For always blaring the best jams in the car with me.

8. For every "Friends" episode we have binge watched over and over again.

9. For being apart of my family.

10. For always listening to me even though I've probably talked about this issue five times before.

11. For picking me up when I am down.

12. For reminding me where my worth is found.

13. For every time you've stayed in because I don't want to go out.

14. For taking care of me when I forget to take care of myself.

15. For always being down to hang out and have fun times.

16. For making my big and small accomplishments a big deal.

17. For allowing me to trust in you and confide in you daily.

18. For always being my alarm clock and reminder during the day.

19. For never staying mad at me for too long.

20. For sharing your life with me and being my person. I don't know what life would be without you.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!

There is nothing quite like family.

Family is kinda like that one ex that you always find yourself running back to (except without all the regret and the angsty breakup texts that come along with it).

No matter how long your class is, there's always time for the mind to wander. Much like taking a shower or trying to fall asleep, sitting in a classroom can be a time when you get some of your best ideas. But, more than likely, you're probably just trying to mentally cope with listening to a boring lecturer drone on and on. Perhaps some of the following Aristotle-esque thoughts have popped into your head during class.

The Belchers hold the key to a better life.

Bob's Burgers is arguably one of the best and most well-written shows on tv today. That, and it's just plain hilarious. From Louise's crazy antics to Tina's deadpan self-confidence, whether they are planning ways to take over school or craft better burgers, the Belchers know how to have fun. They may not be anywhere close to organized or put together, but they do offer up some wise words once and awhile.
