It's midterm season, so I know there are some people who just really need some encouragement. So whether it's assignments, weird weather, or midterms getting you down, remember there are some great things to look forward to in the next couple of months.

1. Spring Forward - Extra daylight!

Mark your calendars! March 13 means we lose an hour, but we have more hours of natural light to enjoy the warm weather and sunshine!


2. St. Patrick's Day

March 17 - Fun parades and festivals, green ketchup at Burger King, green donuts at Krispy Kreme, Luck of the Irish on Disney, Shamrock Shakes at McDonald's ... What could be better?

3. The best fruits are coming in season.

4. Easter is just around the corner.

Sunday, March 27 is this year's day of Easter eggs, sunny skies, and celebrating Jesus.


5. The smell of freshly cut grass.

6. Spring Fling.

7. Sun dresses and sandals coming back.

8. Birds chirping.

9. Pastel colors and florals.

10. Driving with the windows down.

11. Flowers blooming.

12. The beginning of a tan.

13. Picnics.

14. Baseball season.

15. Eno/hammock weather.

17. Iced coffee and iced tea.

18. Outdoor dates.


19. Flying kites.

20. Spring. Break.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated.
