They’ll be there to laugh with you, they’ll be there to cry with you, and they’ll be there to eat a whole pizza with you at 2 in the morning, because that’s what best friends do. Having a best friend is great because there’s no pressure to act a certain way or mind what you say around them. You can do that whole loud snort-laugh thing you do with no embarrassment. And you’ve seen them ugly cry more times than you can count. If they are holding your hair back when you’re puking in a frat bathroom and you can recall a time when you’ve done the same for them, you know it’s real. Why have a boyfriend when you can have best friend? Don’t get me wrong, boys are fun and all but we’re young. We need freedom and we don’t need to be tied down, unless you’re into all that (sorry, not sorry). So here it is, my top 20 reasons why having a best friend is way better than having a boyfriend:

1. You can be yourself around them. Like your no makeup, haven’t showered in 3 days self.

2. You can spend weeks together and not get tired of each other.

4. You don’t have to worry about them cheating on you.

5. They won’t judge you for anything (literally anything).

6. They’ll spend Sunday morning with you and swap Saturday night stories.

7. You hate the same people.

8. You will actually introduce them to your family.

9. You can share clothes with them.

10. “Netflix and chill” actually means Netflix and chill.

11. You don’t have to talk to them all day every day.

12. They don’t make you cry, unless it is happy tears.

13. One word. Shopping. Who else will spend all day with you at the mall and not complain?

14. You can ask for their honest opinion and they’ll shoot you straight.

15. They will fan-girl with you over OTH, Gossip Girl, and Harry Potter.

16. You can insult them and they won’t get mad.

17. If you sleep over at their place, it doesn’t complicate things.

18. They’ll always be down to go out with you or stay in and order Jimmy John’s.

19. When you’re upset, they know exactly what to say to make you laugh.

20. They’ll never let you down.
