Why We Don't Deserve Dogs
Madison Yurek

Recently a friend of mine lost her wonderful pet dog. A lab that loved playing, getting treats, and loved people especially kids. He was a great dog with the best personality. It made me think about how these four-legged friends are a blessing sent down to us, to love us unconditionally, to help us be a better person, and to put a smile on our face everyday.

1. They give the best cuddles.

Big spoon, little spoon, or even pillow!

2. They are always happy to see you.

They greet you at the door every day jumping for joy that you are home even if you were gone for a couple minutes.

3. The upside down smiles.

Waking up to these faces in the morning to start your day off good.

4. They help clean up.

Don’t worry about cleaning up the food dropped on the floor and they will gladly clear off any dirty plate too.

5. They are super smart.

They can read emotions, learn

tricks, and get jobs.

6. They remind us to enjoy every moment.

It's the little things in life like a ball.

7. They love kids.

Most dogs love kids and are very into being there for the kids as well.

8. They are just the cutest.

That little fluff ball with puppy

dog eyes and floppy ears are irresistible.

9. They will aways protect us.

Even if it’s just the mailman or a

squirrel they are on alert at all times.

10. They forgive you.

Even if you step on their tail, forget

to feed them at the right time, or are gone on vacation for a week.

11. They are loyal.

They are always there for us through the good, the bad, and the ugly.

12. They comfort us.

They can read our emotions and

when we are upset they will do anything to make us happy again.

13. They work hard.

Sometimes even harder than us and

they can get awesome jobs.

14. They are apologetic.

Their heads hang low and they give

us their best puppy dog eyes because they want your love and forgiveness.

15. They make us laugh.

They are some of the silliest

animals.

16. A LOT!

17. They put up with us.

They let us do just about anything to them, like

dress them up.

18. They go above and beyond for us.

They just want us to be happy, that is their number on goal.

19. They are the best friends to have.

They will listen to all your

issues, make you smile, and always be there.

20. They love us unconditionally.

No matter how much money we have, how smart we are, or what we look like.

They may only be here for a short time, but that’s because they already know how to live and love. Dogs are the only thing that loves you more than they love themselves. And when they pass they will be waiting for us by the rainbow bridge to continue the rest of the journey. We really don’t deserve dogs, but we are lucky to have them.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.
