20 Reasons Dogs Are Better Than Humans
Be Businessed

It is commonly known that dogs are a blessing to all humans. As a girl who grew up with no fewer than two dogs in my house at all times, I can confidently say that dogs live up to their expectation as "man's best friend." While they are indeed a responsibility to train, feed, and care for, they are a wonderful addition to a family. As most dog owners know, man's best friend is superior to man.

1. You don’t need to buy an expensive meal for dogs.

They’re satisfied with anything edible you put in front of them.

2. It’s not weird to pet dogs.

You will get quite a few stares petting humans.

3. Dogs will protect you from danger.

Whether it be the squirrel outside or an intruder in the house, they got you covered.

4. Dogs are the best listeners.

Anyone with a dog knows they can sympathize with their owners, and dogs can’t talk back.

5. Dogs don’t groan over washing dishes.

They have a unique technique, but they are always happy to do the dishes.

6. Dogs are there for you when you need a friend.

They don’t flake like humans often do.

7. Dogs provide us with unconditional love.

Humans, on the other hand, only provide conditional love.

8. Dogs will make sure you always have a dinner date.

Humans might ditch once in a while, but when you eat a meal at home, who will immediately be by your side? Your dog.

9. After a rough day at work, dogs will greet you with love and excitement.

A family member might be mad about that one thing you did yesterday, but a dog will just be happy to see you.

10. A dog ensures you never have to sleep alone.

An argument with a spouse might lead to him or her taking the couch, but your dog will always be at your side.

11. Having a dog can attract other humans, forcing you to socialize.

Taking your dog for a walk becomes hearing a thousand people asking to pet him or her.

12. Dogs beat humans on the cuteness scale.

Every time.

13. Petting dogs lowers your blood pressure.

This reduces your risk for cardiovascular disease and other problems. Humans can be stressful and raise your blood pressure.

14. Dogs encourage you to exercise.

Taking a dog for a run is an easy decision. Taking a human for a run can be frustrating and discouraging, depending on the human.

15. Dogs relieve stress.

Humans increase stress. Enough said.

16. Dogs never judge you for your idiotic decisions.

They will make you feel better with kisses instead.

17. Dogs enjoy the simple things in life.

Car rides? Check. Dinner time? Check. Smelling the flowers? Check.

18. Dogs are the perfect doorbell.

Whenever anyone enters your territory, they will make sure that you know about it. They will sense this person long before a human will.

19. Dog owners are happier than non-dog owners.

Clearly non-dog owners’ human families aren’t satisfying enough.

20. Dogs are a man’s best friend.

There is a reason that man is not a man’s best friend. Man sucks. Dogs are awesome.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
