20 Realities Of Being A Junior In College

It seems just like yesterday you were preparing for your first day as freshman at university. But now flash forward and you're already a junior. How did this happen? When did I become an adult? Being a junior in college is exciting yet frightening at the same. Here are 20 things you experience as a junior in college:

1. You turn the big 2-1!

2. The freshmen 15 can also turn into the sophomore 15 and then into the junior 15.

3. Thinking about graduate school and the process.

4. Getting into those upper level courses.

5. Thinking about internships.

6. Your former high school classmates are getting engaged, married, or having children.

7. You start to hate going to house parties because of all the freshmen.

8. Staying in and drinking wine with your friends sounds more appealing than going out.

9. You realize how expensive living on your own is.

10. Business casual is starting to become your casual attire.

11. How on Earth did you survive high school?

12. Naps are a still crucial to your daily functioning.

13. Spending your money on "adult things" such as toilet paper and cleaning supplies.

14. Realizing you need more stuff to put on your resume and grad school application.

15. Checking your email more than Facebook.

16. Mentally making to-do lists constantly.

17. Professors are real people too and it's okay to talk to them.

18. Talking to professors more so you have recommendation letters in the future.

19. We're no longer underclassmen.

20. We might not live with Mom and Dad again.

Junior year is a big slap in the face. It makes you realize that senior year is almost here and so is graduation. You still don't know what you're going to do after graduation. Grad school or no grad school? Your Facebook news feed is full of engagement/wedding announcements and the occasional pregnancy announcement. Your family is putting the pressure on you to start settling down but you can't even take care of a goldfish.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.
