The University of Kentucky is one of most beautiful schools found in the SEC. Between the prized Willy T. Library to rowdy basketball games at Rupp, UK is the place to be for quality academics, for exciting sporting events and for a stunning campus. However, there are a lot of unanswered questions that us students would love to have answered. Who will answer these questions? Probably no one. Will these questions get answered? Probably not. But these questions still need to be asked.
1. Why is the parking on campus so limited?
2. Why is there no free parking for visitors anywhere?
Sometimes our friends from other schools come to visit and sometimes it's during the week. They can only park in the one garage on campus during the weekend without getting a ticket. Anywhere else they'll get towed. Please, we're begging, give us visitor parking.
3. Why is there construction literally everywhere?
As soon as one project ends, another one begins. Some of the buildings we won't even see because they won't be done until after we graduate. Seriously, enough with the constant construction. It's giving us a headache.
4. Why is there limited dining choices on the weekends?
5. Why did we get La Madeleine instead of Panera?
Who doesn't love some Panera macaroni in a bread bowl? Apparently, UK doesn't. Instead, we got a knock-off French restaurant with overpriced baguettes.
6. Why haven't The Towers been torn down yet?
No one lives in them anymore, so instead they're standing and getting all dusty. Plus, they're super creepy-looking at night.
7. Why does Whitehall have so many stairs?
8. Why does ChemPhys look like a boat?
This question only the architects can answer. Either way, it's clear that a boat was their inspiration.
9. Why isn't Chick-fil-a open 24 hours?
Who isn't craving chicken nuggets all the time, especially on a Sunday?
10. Why are basketball tickets so hard to win?
Who honestly has time to go through the lottery a million times? We go to an incredible basketball school yet going to the games through the school is nearly impossible.
10. Why bother selling guest tickets for football games when sneaking friends in is so easy?
My brown-haired, blue-eyed friend just got into a football game using my I.D. Did I mention I'm blonde-haired and brown-eyed?
11. Why is Willy T always so loud?
12. Why is the line at Starbucks always long no matter when you go?
13. Will Rose Street ever open?
We don't mind not having to look when we cross the street. But seriously, how long has that street been closed?
14. Why is Wildcat Pantry so expensive?
We're all already broke college students, so why would you make us pay $5.99 for one box of off-brand tissues? Or $8 for a single carton of yogurt?
15. Why is K-Lot so far away?
K-Lot is like its own town away from the rest of civilization, not to mention we pay lots of bucks for a parking pass for a lot that's a hike to campus.
16. Why are there so many hills?
There's a hill going up to Willy T. There's another hill going up towards ChemPhys. Oh, and another one going up past the Fine Arts building. But why? Walking around campus is already hard enough.
17. How do I manage to see the same people on a campus with 40,000 students?
18. Why are classes never canceled even when it blizzards?
We're in the South; everyone freaks out when it flurries. But getting to class when it's blizzarding is not only annoying but kind of dangerous. I'd rather not slip and break my arm on a patch of ice while walking to class.
19. Why do U of L fans think it's okay to wear their spirit-wear here?
Seriously, why would you even go to UK if you're a die-hard U of L fan, let alone wear your school colors? Do us all a favor and go back to Dirty Birdie Stadium.
20. How did I get so lucky to go to school here?
No matter how many complaints we have about school, about the people in our class or about the amount of homework we have, going to the University of Kentucky is truly a blessing. No matter how much we complain about UK, we couldn't see ourselves anywhere else.
