Ahh … the never ending dilemma of what movie to pick at you and your besties movie night. It’s always, “I don’t care,” or “you pick.” But there is nothing worse than trusting some cheesy looking film cover with two hours of your life, and it turns out to be a drag. So, if you want to avoid the confusion, consider watching some of my favorites!
For the Nights you want to laugh:
1. Mean Girls
Would this really even be a list if this movie wasn’t on it? Mean Girls is a staple in any girl’s movie collection and should be re-watched at all times.
2. She’s the Man
Sometimes I forget how funny this movie really is until I sit down and watch it again. Amanda Bynes is at her prime here, and is hysterical as both a girl and a boy.
3. The Proposal
Ryan Reynolds, Sandra Bullock, and Betty White – say no more, I’m in! This movie will put anyone in a good mood, guaranteed.
For the hopeless romantics:
4. Twilight Saga
Who could turn down a movie marathon filled with Edward and Bella’s endless love and the occasional shirtless Jacob? One movie will have you thirsty to watch the rest.
5. Paper Towns
Quentin has been in love with the adventurous Margo ever since he moved across the street from her as a kid, and now as a teenager he will follow across the world to prove that to her.
6. The Longest Ride
Cowboy, Luke, and City-Girl, Sophia, cross each other’s entirely different paths and struggle to stay together. This movie compares how old love and new love are sometimes not so different after all.
Overall, I think one lesson we can learn from this love story is to save a horse and ride a cowboy!
7. The Best of Me
High school sweethearts, Amanda and Dawson reconnect once the truth is revealed after years of being separated. This movie has a lot of unexpected twists that are sure to keep you on your toes.
For Some Inspiration:
8. The Perks of Being a Wallflower
Although I may be biased because this movie takes place in the wonderful city of Pittsburgh, I think The Perks of Being a Wallflower is simply spectacular. This inspirational movie is about a troubled boy named Charlie, who is trying to find himself and overcome his past. Leaving you behind with a message that is infinite!
9. Me Earl and the Dying Girl
This witty not-so-lovey love story is a silly and sad story of two teenagers that are forced to spend time together because of one reason – cancer. This story is about how to deal with growing up, facing death and losing friends.
For the Nights you want to Cry:
10. Remember Me
This is my absolute favorite movie. I don’t want to give too much away, but I think I love it so much because even though Remember Me is a fictional story about troubled 20-year-old Tyler, there is some truth to it. The way it just – ends. That was how it really was for everyone else’s story.
11. The Fault in Our Stars
The Fault in Our Stars is a tear jerking story about star-crossed lovers with all odds against them. Keep a box of tissues handy for this one, trust me.
12. The Notebook
You had to know this one was coming. I do not think a movie list in the history of ever has looked over this one, because The Notebook is an all-time fav for a reason. It’s cute, it’s sad and, most of all, it’s beautiful.
13. The Last Song
This movie deserves an award for casting such perfect characters that even Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth will fight for each other after all of these years. By the end, you will be crying from both the movie and how much you love them together.
14. A Walk to Remember
Nicholas Sparks, you’ve done it again. If there is one thing this man is good at, it is making irresistible heart-wrenching love stories no girl can resist.
For the nights you want to dance:
15. Grease
My parents watched this movie, I watched this movie, my children will watch this movie, and their children, and their children … Please, if you haven’t seen this one, do yourself a favor, stop reading this article, and watch it right now.
16. Step Up
The original is my personal favorite, because you cannot deny the connection between Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan – considering this movie is where their love began. But all of the movies are just as fun to watch, so pop them all in and dance a night long!
For those of Age (17+):
17. Bad Moms
Although this movie is about moms, any women can relate to this. Bad Moms is easily one of the funniest new releases I have seen in a while.
18. Bridesmaids
BRIDESMAIDS IS BEYOND FUNNY. It needs no explanation other than watch it.
19. Fifty Shades of Grey
What is it about Christian Grey that makes him so utterly irresistible? If you liked Twilight but you aren’t so keen on the idea of vampires then this is the movie for you. Fifty Shades of Grey was actually based off of Twilight, but do not be fooled because this dark and mysterious movie is to be watched with warning.
20. Magic Mike
Channing Tatum – a shirt + a male strip club = every woman’s dream come true.
So next time you and your girls can’t seem to decide what kind of movie you’re in the mood for, try watching some of my personal favorites!
