If you were born in the 90s, then you understand that the movies we grew up watching are very different than what we have today. Even though everyone loves the movies released now, there is a special nostalgia that comes with the movies we watched over and over and over again.
Let's take a trip down memory lane and remember the movies that we all know and love.
1. "Matilda"
If you try to say that after watching this you didn't try to move objects around your house by using your mind, then I really don't believe you. Every kid wanted to be like Matilda at some point. I know for me, I just wanted to be able to feed myself without using either of my hands.
2. "Space Jam"
Michael Jordan and the "Looney Toons." What else can I say?
3. "Mrs. Doubtfire"
Being one of Robin Williams' most popular movies, you either loved or hated this movie. Although, most everyone just loved it. You know you at least chuckled when he popped up from the refrigerator and yelled, "Hell-ooh!"
4. "Bring it On"
You never really understood the point of this movie, but you still wanted to watch it. And it wasn't until you got older that you realized why your parents never let you. So many dirty references, but still so funny.
5. "My Girl"
So many feels.
6. "The Little Rascals"
I know for me, even though I am a woman myself, I always wanted to be a member of the He-Man Woman Haters Club. They just seemed like the coolest friends to have!
7. "The Sandlot"
Benny "The Jet" Rodriguez. What a dreamboat!
8. "The Goonies"
Even though this was released in 1985, it was—and still should be—a rite of passage to watch this movie. Goonies never say die!
9. Any Disney Animated Movie
"Mulan," "The Lion King," "Pocahontas," "Beauty and the Beast," etc. So much inspiration and so many feels come along with any of these movies.
10. "Home Alone 1 and 2"
We all were rooting for Kevin to kick butt against Harry and Marv, and were genuinely hacked off when they changed the boy in the third movie. You just can't do that!
11. "Hocus Pocus"
If you don't watch this movie every Halloween, you aren't doing it right.
12. "The Mighty Ducks"
All I have to say is: "Quack! Quack! Quack!"
13. "The Addams Family"
Growing up, I never understood this movie and I personally never liked Wednesday Addams. Now, years later, I realized I have grown up to be her. It's funny how things work out!
14. "Richie Rich"
One of my all time favorites. I hope I am not the only 90s kid who wanted all the of the inventions in this movie!
15. "Jumanji"
Another beloved Robin Williams movie, and one of my personal favorites. This movie slightly made me afraid to play any type of board game, but still amazed me because of the imagination of whoever wrote the script!
16. "Toy Story"
We've got a friend in Woody and Buzz.
17. "Jingle all the Way"
In my personal opinion, I think Sinbad was one of the best parts of the movie. Although I do love 90s Arnold.
18. "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory"
Another movie not released in the 90s, but still a big deal! This 1971 movie is a classic for any age. I mean, what kid can't relate to wanting to visit a chocolate factory?
19. "A Bug's Life"
This movie taught so many lessons that we were going to use later in life.
20. "The Parent Trap"
Lindsay Lohan as a twin, being mischievous and plotting to get their divorced parents back together. How much better could a movie get?
There are so many other movies not mentioned here that helped shape our childhoods. Compared to the movies that are released for the kids today, the movies us 90s kids grew up with are second to none. There were tears, laughter, and lessons taught that helped us become who we are. I will always love the movies I grew up with.
