Rapist, Brock Turner, who raped an unconscious girl, was released from jail last Friday after a meager 3 month sentence. The brevity of his sentence is frankly unjust, and has triggered complete disgust and disappointment for the justice system. Rape is a serious matter, and it's time we start punishing it with the severity that it holds. Brock Turner's sentence wasn't long enough; here are some things that have lasted longer than his sentence:

1. Light bulbs

2.The Game of Thrones theme song

3. That indestructible Nokia phone

4. Stride gum

5. That pair of old navy flip flops from 2007 that you still wear

6. Chapstick

7. Those free T-shirts you got in middle school

8. Jaw breakers

9. Pregnancy

10. A semester at school

11. DJ Khaled's snapchat story

12. Harambe memes

14. All four seasons

15.That can of soup that's been in your pantry for God knows how long

16. Forrest Gump's cross country run

17. That pause after Dora the Explorer asks a question to the audience

18. The wait to see what would happen between Jim and Pam on "The Office"

19. Any Fall Out Boy song title

20. The 15 minutes it'll take me to save 15% or more on Geico car insurance

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.
