20 Little Things To Celebrate

It’s getting to that point in the semester where any little victory can help keep your spirits up. Summer is almost here, but your professors are piling on the work and finals week is approaching quickly. In order to stay sane during this crazy time, here are some little times during your day or week to celebrate.

1. Getting an A on a quiz.

2. Doing laundry.

3. Thoroughly reading a chapter in your textbook.

4. Learning all the lyrics to a new song.

5. Remembering a friend’s birthday.

6. Wishing that friend “Happy Birthday” right at midnight.

7. Walking up four flights of stairs to your room instead of taking the elevator.

8. Making it to the gym a couple times during the week.

9. Avoiding a socially awkward situation.

10. Waking up on time for class.

11. Completing a homework assignment several days in advance.

12. Passing a room inspection.

13. Choosing a salad over a hamburger.

14. Walking to class instead of taking the bus.

15. Writing an assignment without checking social media.

16. Cooking a meal more complicated than pasta with sauce.

17. Winning a game of cards.

18. Getting enough stamps for a free coffee.

19. Finding out you don’t have any cavities.

20. Seeing a jacket you wanted went on sale.

You are a great, successful student and one bad grade won't ruin you. Take a break from studying to celebrate the little things you accomplish each day. This will help you relieve stress and promote a positive attitude. You have almost finished the semester. You've got this.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
