20 Life Lessons We've Learned From "Star Wars"
Star Wars

Well, "Star Wars" fans, "The Force Awakens" is officially on DVD starting April 5th! As you plan epic watch parties and marathons this week, take time to reflect on the nuggets of wisdom the movies offer us. Star Wars may be one of the greatest series in the world, but it's also full of valuable life lessons we can all appreciate.

*Note: The prequel series is mysteriously missing from this article. That was not a mistake.

The prequels aren't the movies you're looking for...

1. Sometimes, the odds are straight up ugly.

Like Han Solo, never look at the odds; it's just a distraction. Trust in your abilities!

2. There will be those who doubt you.

Accept the fact that there will be people who don't believe in you. All you can do is work hard to prove them wrong.

3. There's nothing more valuable than loyal friends.

Find people who do believe in you; surround yourself with them.

4. When in doubt, just improvise.

Just like Han, our sparkling conversationalist, if you're backed into a corner, make stuff up!

5. But don't waste your time.

Know when you're too deep in trouble to charm your way out, and get out of there as fast as possible.

6. Things will get tough.

Sometimes, it will feel like the world solely exists for you to be drowned in eternal misery. And it's OK to feel that.

7. But eventually, things will get better.

Give it some time, and you too will be chosen to save the galaxy, and have an epic bonfire with ewoks.

8. Family can be... complicated.

We all have that one ex we regret...

9. Know when to give up.

If you ever find yourself in a heated argument with someone who's not seeing your reasoning, don't waste your energy. Just let the Wookie win!

10. When you don't succeed, try, try again.

At the same time, don't make the same mistake over and over again. You'd think they would have learned their lesson after the first Death Star got blown up.

11. Don't judge a book by its cover.

Outward appearance is never a good indicator of character or value. Keep an open mind!

12. Trust your gut.

Also, don't be afraid to state the obvious. Thank you, Admiral Ackbar.

13. Everyone has their own part to play.

Even if you're this ewok, everything you do has an impact on people around you. Do what you can to help others.

14. Perspective matters.

Remember that everyone has a different perspective. One person's droid is another person's god.

15. Be prepared.

Carrying a cross hilt lightsaber is just smart. Unless you're a Skywalker, in which case it's just a rite of passage to get your hand cut off.

16. Give people their space.

If your boss is having a hissy fit, slowly walk away. He's trying to run the galaxy here, people. Give him some credit!

17. Poe's jacket looks fantastic on Finn.

Most important life lesson of the list. Never forget it.

18. Interior decoration matters.

Kylo, you need to up your game. Darth Vader's skull as your centerpiece will not impress the ladies.

19. Confidence is key.

Taking the example of our charming pilot here, being confident not only makes you trust yourself, but also allows you to accomplish great things.

20. Listen to your heart.

If you find yourself doing something you really don't want to, there's always time to change. Just look at Finn.

Happy Episode VII watching to everyone, and may the force be with you!

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!

RBF, or resting b*tch face, is a serious condition that many people suffer from worldwide. Suffers are often bombarded with daily questions such as "Are you OK?" and "Why are you so mad?" If you have RBF, you've probably had numerous people tell you to "just smile!"
