Age 20. That awkward age where you’re stuck in the middle. You’re not classified as a teenager anymore, and you fall basically into the category of being an adult. You are reaching that point in your life where you are having to start making major life decisions. Articles about growing up and becoming an adult are starting to become very relevant to your life.

While not always easy, I have learned a lot of valuable life lessons and am very thankful for every life lesson I have learned in my 19 years of living. Here are a few of the many life lessons I have learned in my past 19 years of living.

1. Life isn’t always fair.

Things aren't always going to go the way we want them to. Sometimes in life you win, sometimes you lose. No matter what life throws your way, no matter how unfair it may seem, refuse to play the victim. Be a warrior and work through whatever life throws your way.

2. Life is short.

Even though you might be young, always remember that life is unpredictable, and you never know how long you have to spend with someone. In the blink of an eye, everything can change. Never take life for granted.

3. Always have faith.

Have faith and never give up. Things will work out like they are supposed to. Let your faith be bigger than your fear. You can't control everything. Sometimes you just need to relax and have faith that things will work out. Let go and let life happen.

4. Nothing is stronger than the power of prayer.

Prayers really do work. When things get tough, put them in God's hands. Never underestimate the power of a prayer.

5. Never give up.

No matter what you are faced with in life, never give up. Giving up is the worst possible thing that you could ever do. Nothing worth having comes easy.

6. Not everybody in your life is meant to stay in your life forever.

Unfortunately, people are going to come and go from our lives. Not every person that comes into our lives will stay forever. People come into our lives for a reason.

7. Quality friends are better than the quantity of friends.

It is way more important to have quality friends than to stress the number of friends you have. Sometimes your circle decreases in size, but increases in value.

8. Don’t be afraid to fail.

Failure is a part of life. Learn from failure and let it build you into being a better person. Never be afraid to fail. Failure is nothing more than a chance to revise your strategy.

9. There is nothing wrong with having confidence.

Always have confidence in yourself. Never be afraid to try new things. Never doubt yourself and always work hard. Nothing holds you back more than your own insecurities.

10. Sometimes you just need to turn up the music, go for a walk, or a drive and just chill.

Life isn't always going to be a walk in the park. Sometimes we just need to escape and take a breather to clear our mind. Find what it is that you need to clear your mind and take a break from life every now and then.

11. Everything happens for a reason.

This can be one of the hardest things to accept. But everything in life typically happens for a reason. Sometimes we are tested. Not to show our weaknesses, but to show our strengths.

12. Starting drama will not solve anything.

Avoid drama at all costs. Starting drama will get you nowhere in life and will not solve anything. Drama just causes more problems. Stay positive and work through the situation.

13. Never judge anybody.

You never know what situations another person has been faced with. Never judge a person. You haven't had to walk in their shoes.

14. Don’t stress the little things.

Don't let the little things in life tear you apart. Take life day by day and be grateful for the little things. Don't get stressed over what you can't control.

15. Not everybody in this world is going to like you.

No matter how hard you try, not everybody in this world is going to like you. And that is perfectly okay.

16. Don’t be afraid to try new things.

Step out of your comfort zone. Try new things. Never doubt yourself, or your ability to do anything. You never know where these new things might lead you in life.

17. Don’t fear change.

Change is just a part of life. Never fear change. Change is hard at first, messy in the middle, and gorgeous at the end.

18. Travel and go on as many new adventures as you can.

Travel and take advantage of this beautiful world we live in. This planet we live on holds many natural wonders and experiences. Travel as much as you can, as far as you can, as long as you can. Life's not meant to be lived in one place.

19. Always remain positive no matter how tough the situation might be.

Being negative solves nothing. Keep your head up and push through tough situations. Let tough situations help build you into being a better person.

20. Life was not meant to be easy.

Nothing in life will come easily. Never give up and don't be afraid to chase your dreams. You have this one life . Be brave. Believe in yourself. Do what feels good. Take risks. You have this one life. Make yourself proud.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
