This year is the 20th anniversary of "The Hunchback of Notre Dame," one of Disney's most intense and mature movies. Hell, ethnic cleansing, and damnation is a little advanced for Disney's typical audience but the film did quite well and is still enjoyed by fans today. From the lovable, deformed Quasimodo, to the sassy feminist Esmeralda with her equally sassy goat sidekick, to the evil Judge Claude Frollo, and the handsome Captain Phoebus, the Hunchback of Notre Dame is a classic that is full of great jokes and powerful songs. The trio of talking gargoyles and Phoebus' mischievous horse, Achilles add to the cast of characters that bring this intense story to life. How many lessons can you learn from this 20 year old classic?

1. Don’t let your life pass you by. As Laverne the statue says “Life's not a spectator sport. If watching is all you're gonna do, then you're gonna watch your life go by without you.”

2. Don’t judge people based on their appearance.

3. Doing the right thing sometimes means going against people who are higher in the totem pole.

4. Sometimes you have to help people you don’t really want to.

5. Who the monster is and who the man is depends on your point of view.

6. Those who do wrong and are hypocritical will pay the price in the end.

7. There is always someone who has it worse than you.

8. Nothing is ever completely hopeless.

9. It only takes one person to lead the way and start a trend of standing up against immoralities.

10. Be careful about which festivals you choose to attend.

11. Be the encouragement in other people’s lives.

12. Be happy for others even if you didn’t get what you wanted. Holding a grudge won’t change anything.

13. Learn about other people’s cultures.

14. Take an interest in other people’s interest or their art. You might learn something new.

15. Keep things light even if you’re a stone.

16. Be aware of your surroundings (especially for booby traps or gypsy ambushes).

17. Have friends that keep your life interesting.

18. Don’t burn down cities. Setting things on fire doesn't solve anything.

19. The most unlikely hero can be found in all of us.

20. Everyone needs friends, although humans might be better friends than stone gargoyles or a farm animal.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
