Two decades isn't a long time to live, but I have learned a few things along the way. These are the reminders that I give myself when I need a metaphorical slap in the face or just a good chuckle.
1. Self-care is not selfishness.
2. Try, fail. Try again and repeat until successful.
3. Dad jokes make the world go round.
4. Personal success is measured by growth.
5. It's not a crime to say "no" to others once in a while.
6. Genius is messy.
7. The worst thing about prison is the dementors.
8. Personal standards are a reflection of your own ideas of self worth.
9. When in doubt, ask for help.
10. Proofreading makes the difference between an amateur and professional.
11. The moment you start believing that you know everything shows how very little you actually know.
12. You are not as patient as you think you are.
13. The only person you have control over is yourself.
14. Failure is only failure if you see it as failure.
15. Once you find your confidence, capture it and then wear it.
16. Fear is never a good enough reason.
17. One person can only do so much.
18. Instead of competing with others, compete with your old self.
19. Be your own best friend.
20. God is found in the most unlikely of places.
