The 2000s are definitely a time to reflect upon, especially trend wise. Even though some of these trends may make you cringe knowing that you partook in them; you'd be lying if you said you didn't. Fashion finds a way to come full circle and back into style, however, hopefully, most of these trends end up staying in the 2000s.
1. Gauchos
These were crucial to own, I had different colored ones for every day of the school week. They were comfortable yet had the flare that made them somewhat...fashionable?
2. Tank Tops over T-shirts
For some reason, this was a combination people enjoyed putting together, usually accessorized with a large beaded necklace.
3. Graphic Tees
The amount of money I spent at Delia's on the 2 for $50 graphic tees should be a crime.
4. Bermuda Shorts
These definitely could be found at Old Navy probably for "buy one, get one".
5. Poofs
The goal was to have the highest poof even if that meant an absurd amount of bobby pins and hairspray.
6. Scrunched Hair
These products were essential when getting ready in the morning. Nothing like that just got out of the shower look that lasts all day!
7. Layering Tank Tops
The number of tank tops you have layered was a definite signifier of how popular you were, the more tank tops you had the higher your social ranking.
8. Crimpers
If you couldn't afford a crimper or didn't want to spend your money, having your mom braid your hair before you went to sleep basically had the same effect.
9. Ponchos
These fringy disasters were basically like a portable blanket that you could wear in public.
10. Leggings under Denim Skirts
As if jean skirts weren't restricting enough, let's add some thick material under them to make them even more uncomfortable.
11. Frosted Tips
Growing up as a boy at this time you definitely contemplated going for the frosted tips I mean come on... Justin Timberlake is doing it.
12. Arm Sleeves
This trend definitely makes me cringe the most because I actually partook in it. At the end of the day these were always covered in pencil and whatever other germs you picked up from elementary school.
13. Zig Zag Part
This was the most difficult hair part to achieve, especially because your hair always wanted to return back to its natural part. You had to strategically use a fine tooth comb in order to create this maze on your scalp.
14. Skater Shoes
Even if you didn't partake in skateboarding yourself, you definitely owned a skater brand pair of shoes; Phat Farms, Etnies, DC Shoes, etc.
15. Popcorn Shirts
These shirts were always mesmerizing considering they looked so small but somehow fit once you put them on. They are now sold at Rite-Aid if anyone is interested in bringing them back in style.
16. Butterfly Hair Clips
These clips always seemed like a cute accessory but were never practical considering they only had the strength to hold one strand of hair.
17. Polo Shirts with Popped Collars
You most likely wore a polo even if you didn't classify yourself as preppy on a regular basis, popping your collar allowed you to add your "own touch" to this look.
18. Myspace
Every parent definitely frowned upon their child having a Myspace. However, you probably had one anyway and had a dramatic song by Secondhand Serenade play as people viewed your page. Tom was also most likely one of your "top friends" shown on your profile.
19. Extensions
Nothing was more embarrassing than when someone called you out for your extension clip showing. These were supposed to look natural even though some days you would rock your shorter hair if you were feeling too lazy to clip these babies in.
20. AIM Account
Without a cellphone AIM was the best way to keep in touch with your friends, it could also be used to create a dramatic "away messages", or harass SmarterChild.
