As I prepare to turn 20 on May 16th, I want to offer advice to people like me who were entering their second decade this year. However, I felt like I would be mentioning the cliche things about turning 20 like getting your first real job, graduating college and staring life on your own. While all these things are monumental, the emotions and anxieties with becoming an adult can be overwhelming. My faith is something I hold close to my heart and I have found that the Bible holds the words that can guide me through any situation that may come my way in my 20's and throughout the rest of my life.

1. Philippians 4:13

It may be hard to remember at times, but you were made to achieve your goals and you are strong enough to tackle any obstacle.

2. Proverbs 31:25

The future is scary, but God has prepared you, so hold your head up high and laugh at your troubles.

3. 2 Corinthians 5:7

If the situation seems bleak, try to remember your faith and let God guide you towards better days.

4. Psalm 46:5

One of my favorite verses because it reminds me that I am destined for success, not failure, because of God's grace.

5. 1 Peter 1:6

During your 20's, there can be uncertain times. However, this verse reminds us that we should be excited for the good to come, not fearful of the present.

6. Romans 8:18

Whether you are experiencing a breakup, a loss of a job or any difficult time, God reminds us that the joy he has planned for us will overcome any pain that is given to us now.

7. 1 Thessalonians 5:18

Stay humble at all times and give thanks for all your blessings. There is always something to be thankful for.

8. 1 Corinthians 13:4-7

This is a typical verse read at weddings, which could be something you celebrate during your 20's. However, love is something that can be given and received by anyone, and will always be among the most powerful things we, as humans can feel.

9. Philippians 1:6

This is a big one. Often we want the good things to come right away and have the ideal adult life we planned on. However, we only have so much control, which leaves God in charge of getting us to where we are supposed to be WHEN we are supposed to be there.

10. Psalm 16:8

Your 20's are a time were you can decide who you want to be and actually take charge to be that person. However, keeping the Lord with you as you grow is important in order to become a confident individual who is meant for wonderful things.

11. Luke 1:37

There will come a time when that dream or goal you have that seems impossible or unrealistic. Through hard work and the belief that God will point you in the right direction, that dream may just come true.

12. Ephesians 4:32

In our 20's we will run into people who hurt us and take what we believe is ours. However, God doesn't want us to hold grudges. Instead, spread kindness and remain humble. What goes around will come around.

13. Esther 4:14

You never know when a monumental moment will come and change your life. Whether its good or bad, it may be the moment God wants you to be a part of in order to change the your life and the lives of others. Take each moment as a gift or lesson for your future.

14. Proverbs 27:9

Your 20's is a time for fun and finding friendships that are worth having. Sometimes a night out with the girls is the blessing in disguise God gave you to remind you of the good you have in your life.

15. Matthew 5:14

The world can be dark at times. Here we are reminded to be the kind, trusting individuals God wants us to be in order to light the world and stand out in the world.

16. Luke 1:45

It can be hard to remember the Lord is with us when everything seems to be going wrong. Trusting him and the promises he has planned for us is a way to find closure.

17. Ruth 1:16

The right people will stay in your life and the Lord's love will follow you, wherever your life will take you.

18. Colossians 3:12

Live your life the way you want to be treated and spread beautiful qualities to everyone you meet. The right people will find their way to you because of how you present yourself.

19. Jeremiah 29:11

God has great plans for us and we as his children should trust him when making decisions that could change the course of our lives. One way or another, He will get us to where we are meant to be.

20. Isaiah 43:5

Wherever life takes you in your 20's and beyond, God is with us.

No matter what you believe in, the words of the Bible remind us that there is always somebody watching over us and helping us succeed. Your 20's are a turbulent time where your life can change in ways you could never imagine. Whether you need a pick me up during the rough times or a way to celebrate during the happy times, I hope these verses give you the inspiration you need to take on everything the next 10 years has for you. You, reader are destined for greatness and I pray you know how wonderful you are.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week.
