20 Bible Verses For The Struggling College Student

It is easy to question your path in life, your decisions that you have made, and even your faith. Finding my place in my faith was one of my biggest accomplishments this year and has taught me so many things about peers, my God, and myself. As I read my Bible I like to highlight my favorite verses and share them with my friends and family. These 20 bible quotes may spark your interest again in your faith, may help you through a tough time, and may be reminders of how great our world and God is.

  • Psalms 46:5 “God is within her, she will not fail.”
  • James 1:3 “Because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.”
  • Philippians 4:13 “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
  • Matthew 6:33 “Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.”
  • Colossians 3:23 “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for me.”
  • Romans 10:17 “Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message and the message is heard through the word of Christ.”
  • Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.”
  • Psalm 103:11 “For as high as the heavens are above the Earth, so great is the steadfast love toward those who fear him.”
  • James 5:16 “Therefore confess you sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of righteous man is powerful and effective.”
  • Hebrews 11:6 “And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.”
  • 2 Timothy 1:7 “For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and self-discipline.”
  • Hebrews 13:5 “Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said ‘Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.’”
  • Matthew 11:28 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”
  • 1 Peter 5:7 “Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.
  • Isaiah 40:31 “But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”
  • Ephesians 2:8 “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith- and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God.”
  • Romans 12:2 “Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.”
  • 1 Corinthians 13:4-5 “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.”
  • 1 Corinthians 16:13 “Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong.”
  • Hebrews 11:1 “Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see."

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever.
